She's purty.

This week I'm listening to Lurker of Chalice and Leviathan.

Shame on me for not having listened to this guy's music sooner. It's sooo good.

Arkona's alright, but the best Russian bands are Aria, Aspid, and Scald.

Somehow missed Chapel in 2012. Looking at the cover I thought it was going to be a generic old school death throwback, but turns out it's awesome black/speed metal.

Late to the party, hope y'all don't mind if I go off -

First, Voivod have a new album coming out soon, which sounds pretty interesting (as if it wouldn't at least be interesting....).

Second,
Sulphur Aeon - Swallowed by the Ocean's Tide !!!!
Denouncement Pyre - An Extension of the Void !!!!
Sorcery - Arrival at Six (death)
Draconis Infernum - Death in my Veins (black; Singapore)
Decomposed - Ethereal Landscapes (death)
Blood of Seklusion - The Darkest of the Graves (death)
Convulse - Inner Evil (death)
Feral - Welcome to the Graveyard (death 'n roll)
Nervochaos - To the death (death; Brazil)
Nervochaos - Pazuzu is here (death)

And if anyone needs some doom -
Obelyskkh - Mount Nysa (stoner)
Obelyskkh - The Enochian Keys (instrumental)
Lord of the Grave - Horsepuncher (stoner doom)
Serial Hawk - Watch it Burn (stoner metal)
Black Awakening - Pillars of Creation (doom)

It's been a good week, and Darkened Nocturn Slaughtercult's new album (Necrovision) is finally available outside of Germany (and for not insane import prices), so go buy it or Onielar will feast on your brain

I've never heard of them before but I like it. It's a good mix of Metsatoll and Eluveitie.

Feral - Welcome to the Graveyard (death 'n roll)
Obelyskkh - Mount Nysa (stoner)
Obelyskkh - The Enochian Keys (instrumental)
Lord of the Grave - Horsepuncher (stoner doom)
Serial Hawk - Watch it Burn (stoner metal)

Very interesting....

Dawn is incredible. I can't stand most BM, but Slaughtersun is an amazing album. Illogicist is good, but they sound like every other tech death band that sounds like that.

Also, new Portal.

Piggy's replacement founded the Canadian technical death metal band Martyr so I'm not surprised that Voivod is revisiting their more proggy Dimension Hatross/Nothingface era sound (also Blacky's back for the first album since Angel Rat)

What's up with all these finely-divided metal subgenres, anyway? It seems like each one only has one band in it.

Yep. I remember a hardcore death metaller I used to know that fell in love with Crowbar. So, instead of calling them doom or something akin to what they actually are, he insisted on saying they were "totally deathy sludgecore. I mean, they are a lot like death metal, only slower."

I usually see melody and death metal like ice cream and caviar - both are good, just not together, plus I'm diabetic. But that wasn't bad.

Adebisi: Also, new Portal.

The more I hear this the more I think it will be their best album.

Well of course, progressive avant-garde black metal sucks balls, but blackened avant-garde prog is awesome.

Personally, I love the contrast...but to each his own. I almost always find good shiat with your suggestions, however, and once the house intarwebs work again, I'll be looking for those bands' stuff.

I'm glad you posted it - I find a lot of great stuff outside of my comfort zone in these threads (and I can't usually predict what I'll like and what I won't), so I'll always listen to what's posted, and the more links the better.

I don't remember Brymir at all, so probably not me, but just stumbled across this trying to remember if I'd even heard them before (Link) and they do sound pretty damn good.

Clean vocals fans! Holy Grail are streaming their new album. Haven't listened to it yet myself, but based on prior work and their killer live shows, I'm pretty stoked.

Truth. Truth truth truth. I love the slog--going through link after link that just isn't for me until I find that one jewel and my day instantly gets better. Doubly so if, as you say, it's something I wouldn't've expected to enjoy. I've found (and paid!) so many new favorite bands from SHMHC.

Ah, well, good deal...and Unconquerable is my favorite tune from them.

The whole music exchange of SHMHC amongst users is something I really enjoy, too. Let's all join in a little metal kumbaya....
