Yeah, those tens of thousands of dollars per incident don't get passed onto the rest of us. No sir. Comes right out of the CEO's bonus. And the money spent repairing people's vandalism couldn't possibly be spent on anything better. Nope, it's so much better that the thief is getting pennies on the dollar compared to the original or replacement cost of the equipment.

You must also support the homeless shiatting in public transit escalators, because hey, it doesn't belong to a single person. Nobody has a right to get upset. Broken windows are good for the economy.

subfactorial: So they tossed this guy in the bed of a truck and drove him to a cop's house? No phones (cell or otherwise) at his place?

I can imagine the cop's reaction. "WTF? Why did you bring me a half dead copper thief? Call 911 numbnuts."

I am guessing simple farm folks that only had a landline that was severed when numb-bolts cut down the pole. The cop most likely reacted that way, but quickly understood when wife stated 'He knocked our phone out as well'. If it was during the day, they could've used him for smoke signals.

Physically he's ok, but mentally he suffers from diminished attenuation span.

I always liked the warning sign - "Danger - Not only will this kill you, it will hurt the whole time you are dying". Cannot post it from mobile...

Fear the Clam: What a waste of a helicopter ride.

People who steal infrastructure copper should be left to die as a warning to others.

I'm normally not that bloody-minded, but this. These clowns aren't just stealing from an individual or a company (which is bad enough), they're robbing the whole community of a critical service. Screw them.

BKITU: There is no word on his condition at this time.

I'm guessing he's feeling shocked at the occurrents.

I'm guessing that "medium rare" would be a good description.
