So, we lost both Stan the Man AND Earl Weaver today. Two greats both connected to my hometown Rochester Red Wings...

It's a sad day for baseball. BUT, let's all bear in mind that a game currently being played on a diamond in the middle of an Iowa cornfield just got infinitely more entertaining. I bet Earl is cursing out every member of the 1919 White Sox he can find.

SnatchMcGillicudy: What is LOFTON doing on that list? For shame...

Being a borderline HOFer that stupidly got kicked off his first ballot. In other words, not much.

In fact, if we want to focus on Lofton, check this one out:

130 HR
600 SB

Henderson
Morgan
Raines
Brock
Lofton

OR, to back up a step, if we did, say, .298 BA, 600 SB & 115 HR, we get possibly my all-time favorite "dumb list"

Cobb
Lofton

And since Lofton has more HR than Cobb, unlike EVERY OTHER LIST I'VE POSTED, there isn't a guy who is CLEARLY the worst in this one.

(By the way, Henderson's "low" BA lets you do a lot of really dumb stuff with him. 600 SB, 1500 Games and NO MORE than a .280 BA? Henderson, Morgan, Campaneris, Otis Nixon)

In conclusion, small groups of players are fun. Thanks, Tim Kurkjian.

W.C.fields forever: dalbuc: Wow, one of my dad's all time favorites I didn't know how good he was. 22 years and a .331 batting average is crazy.

Yes.Even crazier he was 41 and batted.330.

He struck out 40 or more times in a season only 3 time... 2 of those seasons he were his last 2 at the ages of 41 and 42 respectively
