Oh.  Look.  It's a casual gamer.  I'll be right back.  I'm going to put on my limited edition Kaname Chidori fan club shirt and go get some pocky from the cabinet.  Continue to amuse us with your casualness.

His collection now houses old Nintendo toys, hundred year old cards

Wow. I had no idea Nintendo had been around that long.

*googles*

Founded on September 23, 1889

Wow, indeed. Attempted snark retracted.

I got a set of hanafuda cards from Club Nintendo - the first hanafuda cards ever offered in North America. I also got a sweet deck of western playing cards too. That's pretty much the extent of my collection.

What the hell is this mess? Your satire sucks, and you're trying way too hard.

Ooh.  I'm so scared.  Don't try to button-mash through my guard!  I easily bruise!

Well played...adequately puerile with a hint alluding to the idea that you actually might care. How am I doing? Am I biting hard enough defending my internet ego to elicit another response? Let's hope.

This desk is made of two-inch-thick composite wood and has a mahogany veneer finish. It has three drawers and, knowing this station, it cost a hundred dollars. In his own words, Reed Tucker is about to smash it into two half desks. Take it away, Reeve.

I didn't see an American NES in his collection, just the Famicom.

Should be easy to find one for his collection.

Mike_LowELL is taking it to the next level in this thread. Did he jump over a flagpole to do it? You decide.

Ill raise you an NES that doesnt work along with a Super Mario Bros/Duck Hunt cartridge rusted out from the hot breath of a 10 year old blowing in it trying to make it work. And a yellowed SNES.

Wow he even has the Satellaview for his Super Famicom..  That device was waaaay ahead of its time.

I ate Nintendo cereal back in the 80s. That was the extent of my obsession.

An otaku success story is when other otakus collect things about you because you have such a big collection of the things they are obsessed with. If you can find four others like yourself you can join together and form Meta Otaku.

Just another hoarder of pointless corporate merchandise. I find the Pillsbury dough-boy cultists more worthy of adulation.

I think you mean Mega Otaku. Meta Otaku would be formed by someone who collects otakus.

/collecting video game memorabilia is not very different than collecting paintings for their personal appeal rather than their monetary value

It's not just video games. Nintendo is over 100 years old.

Subby, that article was the opposite of cool. That was a pretty lame write up for one, no real details on his collection other than there being a baby stroller. How NOT awesome. Secondly, any rube can collect shiat, its only mildly interesting when there is something of rarity/real interest. A baby stroller does not qualify. Original article was a lot more interesting, but even so not that much interesting and still doesn't qualify as "cool".

The man even has a baby stroller Nintendo once made!

And yet his chances of finding a woman that will help him make a baby to put in it are so so slim.

Another reason the original article on Before Mario is more interesting: "The poster is in such a nice condition and so well designed that you can't believe it's so old! After my wife and my young boy, this poster is probably the thing I love the most in the world! I got it ten years ago, from a Hanafuda collector. I paid the price of a car for it."

Then you can't complain that he doesn't have anything of value.
