State cops should enforce the laws of their state. If the Feds manage to mandate say, a 10 round magazine limit for firearms, the state cops of New York should enforce their own 7 rounds limit. The cops should follow the laws of their own state, they are paid by the taxpayers of that state. If a cop is prescribed medical pot by a doctor, then that cop should be able to take that medicine. If it interferes with his job, then he shouldn't take it while he's on the job, just like any other drug.

BolloxReader: no one will ever be eligible for student loans again (since any drug conviction makes you ineligible for life).

I never quite got that rationale at all. I mean, say someone is a young adult and doing what a lot of young people do, like doing drugs, They get arrested and convicted, suffer their punishment and and attempt straighten up their life by getting educated, only to be denied financial help, and quite possibly be forced into a cycle of low wages and possibly crime due to a lack of opportunity to move up the ladder of education and higher wages. What does the lifetime ban accomplish for the good? It makes no sense. At all.

It makes plenty of sense if you want to marginalize them damn dirty hippies and make sure that only people who play by the rules are put in any positions of authority.
