born_yesterday: Zarquon's Flat Tire: Pincy: I'm guessing most Archer fans are familiar with Bob's Burgers since Jon Benjamin is the star of both shows.

I've seen about 3 episodes of Bob's Burgers and all of Archer. I got it, but I'm not a fan of the other show. I knew Bob's Burgers existed long before I knew it was the same guy.

I didn't know it was the same guy until I looked up his IMDB after reading this thread.

How did you not know it was the same guy? He does the exact same voice for every character he does.

I never once watched Bob's Burgers.

He also has a van.

Mr. Chainsaw: State_College_Arsonist: kronicfeld: Everything about the premiere was awesome. I went to the live show in NYC last weekend. They gave some teasers for the season finale, which may or may not have some connection to one of the creators' prior television projects.

Mr. Ford needs to make an appearance. Maybe President Stan.

Wasn't Mr. Ford at the end of the one where Archer gets the spy car for his birthday?

Yes he was. But he was a lot younger than the Mr. Ford of Frisky Dingo. I tried to identify the voice actor, whose voice is familiar, but he is anonymous.

I'm good with voices (not so good with faces, let alone names). Jon Benjamin's voice is familiar because I'm a big fan of Frisky Dingo, Archer, Bob's Burgers, and Dr. Katz. He plays a dumb, fun-loving, loveable sociopathic loser in all of these. He's not much to look at. Mind you, the guy who does Patrick's voice on SBSP was the blond jock on Coach, and now looks like one of the Ren & Stimpey still frames of Patrick (he also plays a caveman in some of the live footage). You can see Jon Benjamin in that live show he did, Jon Benjamin has a Van.

I love his voice. I also love Bender's gravelly Brooklyn boozer voice. If he does a voice with a show it is probably pretty good. He's one of the top voices and seems to be easy to write for and selective about what he does.

Mr. Ford?  He's just "some guy".  There was an article online about making the series and if I remember, he was just some busybody that was curious about what was going on at the place that they were renting for the taping.  Everyone liked him so the writers worked a part into the series for him.  And the rest is history.  😊

My Google-fu is weak tonight, but I think it was an Onion AV article if you're feeling bored and need something to read.

Found it:

http://www.avclub.com/articles/adam-reed-walks-us-through-archers-th ir d-season-pa,72985/

It's toward the bottom of the page.  But it's a good article, so if you've got time to burn. I'd recommend reading all three installments.

Mr. Chainsaw: mongbiohazard: scottydoesntknow: Let's just get this out of the way right now

***SPOILERS AHEAD. DO NOT PROCEED IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE SPOILED!***

Loved everything about the episode, from the very beginning with the Bob's Burgers tie-in, to the ostrich at the end.

Ohh and did anyone else notice when Archer slaughtered the KGB agents in the burger joint, the two "somewhat normal" kids (Tina & Gene) were horrified, but the bunny ears one, Louise, was almost giddy at the all the gore?

It was a brilliant episode, and I can't wait to see the next Bob's Burgers to see if they do something to allude to it.

They won't, unless the producers of both shows have been planning something for a long time. Most animated (or even live-action) shows can't make references that topical the way South Park can.

They're both animated, so they have the same kind of lead times. Yes, Bob's Burgers would have had to plan it in advance - just like Archer would have had to. Bob's Burgers is a different kind of show, so I don't see it being a gag for the entire episode like it was in Archer, but I wouldn't be surprised if they found a way to allude to it at least a little though. Having the same lead and being owned by the same people I'm sure didn't hurt in setting it all up.

Archer uses a completely different animation style. The backgrounds are 3d models that are painted over and the characters are basically digital puppets.

I made my cousin watch the first season of Archer, and the season four premier. She is now a huge fan of the show, and made me show it to my other cousin and my aunt. They believe Pam is just like my mom, I am not sure how I feel about that.

Lana actually exists. They based the character models on people they knew in Atlanta. Lana is a flight attendant, and Pam owns an antique shop.

And yes, Aisha Tyler is greatest. She'll always be my favorite host of Talk Soup. Sorry, Joel McHale.

The Bob's Burgers sequence was OK, but what I really took away from it was what little value Linda adds to it, and how pointless it is without Louise. Louise would have been awesome in that bit.

Pincy: paj: Never seen any of Bobs Burgers, so I have a feeling I was missing the gist of half of the episode. Stupid way to start a new season IMO; with a crossover episode that many won't 'get'. Still, a funny episode.
/Cheryl is the best.

Maybe, but not me. I suppose I'm just an animation snob and can't stand that intentionally ugly crap that passes for visuals, going back to Dr. Katz.
