Crazy or not, this illustrates the beacon of hope known as American health care. Maybe this guy is a nutcase, but he's not alone. Plenty of rational people are driven to the the edge in attempts to receive even a modicum of care in this exceptional USA. You can rob a bank, be convicted, and still have better care than most working folks.

Well, yay for our system, he will get his quality medical care on our dime.

It's a really sad thing when going to prison is actually better than trying to survive as a "normal" person in America.

Where in the US can a homeless, convicted felon get a job that comes with health care? Seems like this guy made a logical choice. Welkome to Amerika!

Instead of whining about not having insurance, this guy took action himself. This is an easy and reliable way to get medical attention.

Man threatens President, gets free healthcare.

TeaBaggers biatch about his getting free healthcare, room and board, while they scream that their social security check is late and their medicare is the most wonderful thing in the great land of socialism.
While younger teabaggers scream about how you can go to a hospital and get free healthcare that is paid for by the government hospital, as the hospital can't refuse servicing you(until the government government subsidy runs out that is)

cig-mkr: But that's a lot of folks retirement plan. Commit a FEDERAL crime and get sent to a Federal Campus and you get a dorm room, three free meals a day, medical, dental, eyeglasses, heat in the winter and AC in the summer. All while attending classes. Federal white collar crime that is.

Just be sure your white collar crime doesn't involving banking, insurance, or the stock market because then instead of going to Club Fed, you'll be given an apology and a bit larger annual bonus than usual.

Holy human Picasso, batman

It's like they ordered him to face forward but one of the deputies off to his right had just brought in some pulled pork BBQ and his nose took off on its own following the scent of luxurious slow-cooked pig roast.

That or he pissed off a big guy with a mean right hook last time he was in.

There exists an entire socioeconomic class whose economic output - of which wage is a reasonable first measure - is less than the cost of providing them health care. Insurance as a system makes no sense for them - it is inevitably beyond their means. We the American people need to decide our priorities, since health care for this class could only be provided by taking from the higher classes.

/my two cents
//probably misinformed

When enough people's lives are worse outside of jail than if they were in jail, the private prison lobby will be very happy.

UsikFark: kapaso: How else would this guy get to see a doctor? I don't blame him. I've got the flu and no hc coverage right now, so if my fever goes any higher it's good to know I've got options.

Go to the ER, they have to treat you and not let you get sicker!

/This is what some conservatives actually believe... and do.
My guess is call ahead to a local clinic and explain the situation (about the fever.) Anyone got better ideas?

They do have treat you but they can also have a credit agency hound you for the rest of your life. Of course if your really broke that would hardly be an issue.

What I don't get is why the US doesn't just go all the way and completely adopt the Swiss health-care system.

Obamacare is 60% there, but as far as I can tell, the Swiss system is the only one EVERYBODY loves -- Private insurance companies thrive by selling luxury policies -- Universal standard coverage under one system

Yeah you get a national value-added tax that's inherently regressive, but it directly funds all the health expenses that we amplify by hiding them in mazes of paper shuffling -- everybody comes out ahead in the long term.

If only there was some way an industrialized nation could provide better healthcare for its citizens than employer-sponsored private insurance... hmmm... i wonder if there's literally any other, better option out there in the world. Well, i'm stumped, conservatives tell me our private healthcare system is the best in the world! I personally don't have insurance, but I'm told it's the best so it must be working out for me somehow

These are the talking points RWNJs parrot when they don't have the critical thinking skills necessary to form a coherent argument.. If I had a nickel for every time 'X must be an Obama voter' or 'liberals don't work and want free stuff' in comment sections, I'd be a... nickelaire.

And this just goes to prove that liberals are giving people more incentive to commit crimes and live out their days sucking that sweet gubmint teat. This is an obvious sign that we need to stop wasting our precious tax dollars on medical care for these thugs. The answer is right in front of us; no more healthcare in prisons. That'll give people more incentive to stay out of prisons, and encourage those on the inside to better themselves and make sure they never end up back in there. USA! USA! USA!

Surprisingly this is not uncommon. Do a GIS for man robs bank for one dollar and see what an epidemic this has become. It's really a shame people have to resort to this.
