(YouTube)   If you love Casablanca, you'll loathe Overdrawn at the Memory Bank from MST3K season 8. Raul Julia stars in this PBS mess, and Mike, Servo, and Crow give us a great episode. So this is public television. Suddenly I feel like beating up Fred Rogers   (youtube.com) divider line 43

What Raul Julia's doing in this piece of shhhhurely fine entertainment...

//I thought he was Puerto Rican. I didn't know... he was Cuban!

This is one of the, if not the best, all around greatest episodes of the entire series. God-awful film, great riffing, and even the host-segments were awesome.

Yes, Aram Fingal from San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Does it make any more sense without their edits?

Just saw this one for the first time last week; my friends and I are on a big MST3K kick right now. This one's right up there with Pod People and Devil Fish as my favorites.

I can answer that, believe it or not, it does. There is a major plot point cut out when Appolonia's assistant (Pat Benatar) speaks into her wrist, apparently that was an "intercepted Novicorp communication" and then we see a news story before it goes to the scene in the Chairman's office with Elizabeth Claire-Prophet and David Duchovny featuring the atomic lunchbox. This review at the Agony Booth is worth reading.

Why yes, I have pretty much memorized this movie why do you ask?

Oh, and subby, it's "Suddenly I feel like beating the crap out of Fred Rogers".

/this is how much pure cocaine you need to enjoy this movie
//you must remember this, my liver has been pierced

Pod People's been here before, but Devil Fish is essential viewing as well.

If anyone is up for the challenge, it's also available un-MSTED

Watching it again, I guess that plot point wasn't all that major. The news story is shown in its entirety, with an interview with a Novicorp representative asking about Fingal's body before it cuts to the Chairman's room. The scene with Appolonia and her superior is also extended in Nirvana's atrium (yeah, yeah) after the discussion with the Chairman.

/i care way too much about this movie.

My all-time favorite episode. *grabs a bowl of flavo-fibes*

I am working on watching them all in order. Have watched all of seasons 1 & 2, and watched 5 of the first 6 of season 3 (couldn't find Gamera vs Barugon on YouTube.)

One of my absolute favorite episodes. When a script as inept as this is played totally straight, it's perfect material for MST3k

Same reason I like Clonus.

Yup, also one of my favorite childhood movies.
Coincidentally I was just thinking about it last month and I was able to find it on TPB :)

BLESS YOU SUBBY!

I remember seeing Overdrawn at the Memory Bank when it was originally broadcast when I was a teenager, but I've never been able to recall the name of it. Now I have links to the original and an MST3K of it to boot?

Time to do a happy dance!

I saw a few minutes of this movie once, and I couldn't figure out what the f**k was going on, even though I've read the excellent short story it was based on.

It's a surprisingly good movie. I have mixed feelings about whether it should be remade with higher production values or not.

It's crazy, but I'd sit down and watch it unMSTed a lot more often. With all the scenes back in it makes it flow a lot better. I'd throw the riffs I'd know in of course. The only other movie I saw un-riffed was Squirm from season 10 and sometimes as long as the movie isn't terribly bad on its own, it's actually tolerable to sit down and watch.

I have the the same feelings with space munity and clonus (which was remade without permission, mtsies found the original director and he sued and won).

Space munity was a horrible 80s sci-if film but the idea of a multi-generational ship's crew revolting because they want to set foot on a planet could be very interesting.

I might have to watch this one again tonight.

Last night was "Mitchell" unriffed, Plus "Hercules and the Captive Women" and "Girls Town".

"Mitchell" was not improved any by the scenes deleted by MST3K but you do see how Deaney dies.

Mom... My nuts.

One of my all around favorite MST3K episodes.
