But property values in the neighborhood have dropped like a rock...

And here I thought that 'those' people caused property values to fall.

But that only happens once in a while or during ratings sweeps month.

Does the government pay real estate tax to itself, then count that payment as revenue?

White House now valued at $294.9 million, up 7 percent since Obama took office.

Two reasons for this increase:
1) Obama got a new TV, and...
2) Biden is allowed to keep his LP collection there (some of those Foghat albums are really rare).

D.C. is one of the very few places in America where we cherish our old buildings enough to keep them no matter what.  I prefer the European tendency NOT to bulldoze them and start over.

A Starbucks was built down the road from my office in St. Louis a few years  ago. It was open only a few months, then closed due to corporate money issues despite the fact that people lined up there all day. It sat empty ever since until a few weeks ago when the new building with four months wear and tear was torn down.

One reason we're broke is we throw money away. I'm sure it was all a nice tax write-off for the company meaning the taxpayers foot the bill in the long run, paying more taxes to cover for less than stellar business performance.

If they did they's also have to count the expense of the payment. Government buildings are exempt from property taxes.

But it wasn't Obama's billion dollars he spent. He's getting paid to live there.

Lose the Presidency once, shame on you.
Lose the Presidency twice, HA HA HA.

I worked in the used record business for a while in my youth, and I can assure you that there are no rare Foghat albums.

Congratulations America. A black family moved into the neighborhood and property values increased, even in the face of a recession. Archie Bunker must be rolling in his imaginary TV character grave. Movin' on up indeed.

The brits did burn it down at one time. It's that war that rarely gets mentioned in American history because of the epic ass whipping we received..

/yeah yeah battle of New Orleans
//America can thank Napoleon for escaping and starting a bunch of shiat at Waterloo otherwise we'd be brits again

Property value went up because it's so "exotic" to have a "foreigner" living in the neighborhood.

//and not a Canadian or Messican neighbor either.

Ironically, it also costs more than a billion dollars to be told that you can't live there.
