barneyfifesbullet: The only reason anyone ever heard of George Takei is because of or William Shatner is because of Gene Roddenberry.

So, George should turn his bitter down. Way down.

inglixthemad: Wayne 985: I love Shatner. Boston Legal remains one of my favorite television shows of all time.

That said, when the entire cast of Star Trek holds a mixed-to-negative opinion of him, he was probably *was* a douche.

Having dealt with him at a few conventions: he was a douche. I wasn't a fanboy, so he was a little less douchey toward me.

Nichols, Doohan, Koenig, Takei, Frakes, and Spiner were pretty nice. Heck, they were even jovial.

Shatner? Grade A Douche. I get it, don't get me wrong. He was famous, typecast, and didn't really deal well with the fans or jerks selling his autographs. Still, and Koenig is the best example of TOS, others just said "Frack it, life goes on."

Never met a douche from Star Trek, Babylon 5, or Hercules/Xena back in my con-going PA days. Mind you, my local con couldn't afford the A-listers much, and they are the ones more prone to being distanced from reality.

DiRF: Trik: and I've heard that everyone with the exception of James Doohan was / is a dick

Can't really speak to any of the others' personalities, but this one clip kinda shows what an amazing person Doohan was...

Dammit... I'll admit that got my eyes a little watered.

But yeah, I think most of western civilization knows by now that Shatner is kind of a dick.

Is it wrong of me to hope that Trigger here begins her bout of explosive diarrhea at just this moment?

LectertheChef: Superjew: Yes, but he's a Canadian douche, which means we Americans just pat him on the head and say "Oh how cute."

We're just used to it. Douches are Canada's number one export. Pat Sajak, Justin Bieber, Celine Dion, Pam Anderson, Jim Carrey, the list goes on and on. I think that's why Canada's such a nice place to live, they send all their douches to America.

Pat Sajak has been terrorizing my hometown of Annapolis for years.
At any upscale eating establishment around, he is generally reviled.
I think he has a drinking problem, as well as a 'being an a-hole' problem.

Takei is played out. It's time the media move on to the next washed up 60's TV star. Sure he's clever and funny. So are a lot of more relevant people.

What does relevant have to do with being clever and funny? If one of your qualifiers for heeding someone's humor is their 'relevance' I feel for you.

If you think someone should get more attention because they were on a TV show that was cancelled more then 4 decades ago, I feel for you.

WhippingBoy: The Star Trek: TOS hierarchy goes like this:

1, Captain Kirk
2. Spock
3. Bones
4. Scotty
5. Chekov
6. Uhura
7. Nurse Chapel
8. Sulu
9. Those red shirted guys who always die

Why do we care what Sulu has to say? I mean, c'mon, did he even have his own action figure???

I don't really care about anything he said but I certainly didn't mind when he took his shirt off to fence. Sweatily. ...is there an action figure of that?

/also it looks like you accidentally swapped kirk and Spock's list placings.

//and who the hell prefers Chekov over Uhura?!?

Pat Sajak isn't Canadian. He's from Chicago. Born and raised there.

Trivia about Sajak - when Adrian Cronauer (GOOOOD MORRRNNNNNING, VIETNAM!) left Vietnam, he was replaced by Sajak.

Maybe LectertheChef was thinking of Alex Trebek and wrote Pat Sajak instead.

Shatner was great in American Psycho 2. Highly overrated actor but that is hands down his best work thus far in his lengthy career. That's just when he peaked. Could drop a few ell-bee's, though. Fatty Shat.
