I still remember when he called him "The Shat". Yeah, they don't get along.

But I don't think most people get along with William Shatner.

Takei is catty and has a handbag. Because he's gay. Get it?

Fark you, Daily Mail.

Seriously. My parents were kids when this show was cancelled. If George is STILL harboring ill will over a bad experience he had with another actor nearly 50 years ago...Well, that's just not healthy. That's all I can say.

Dude was asked a question. And he didn't even say the guy's name, ffs.

I'm sure he wouldn't have given a shiat about Shatner if not asked. So, yeah, seriously, STFU for thinking there's so kind of 'issue' when there wasn't. Who are you? The Daily Mail?

Um...

The actor, whose character went on to captain his own starship, said: 'Bill's douchiness? Well, he's very self-possessed, self-involved, everything revolves around The Captain.

You were saying?

I'm not sure you're understanding how the conversation went, Mr. Daily Mail.

I said he was asked a question and Takei insinuated that it was the Shat who was a douche. The interviewer continued, with the confirmation - his own - that it was Shatner.

Point is, someone else brought it up. Takei answered and then answered again with it being about Shatner.

Mr Daily Farking Fail.

If you believe every alleged quote, reported by the media, was actually voiced by the person in question - then it's obvious you haven't been interviewed by the media too often.

Sure - if you complete ignore Shatner being a complete asshole for the last 50 years.  Shatner has turned into a bitter old actor.  While Takie and others have managed to reinvent themselves and actually get work outside of Star Trek.

To be fair Shat was on a law show for a few years. He also did that show Shiat My Father Says or something like that. He has done things other than Star Trek. His role was so iconic that no one remembers him doing anything else.

Gotta admit 'set phasers to scratch' got a chuckle out of me.

And the Shat was firkin great in Boston Legal. Those finishing scenes with him and Spader sharing a gar and scotch were some classic TV moments.

2013-01-19 07:56:03 AM
At this point though I do have to side with Shatner. We get it. We've all heard the stories. Shatner was a dick on the set of your TV show from 40 years ago!

Shatner has done numerous interviews where he's admitted he never realized what a dick he was until he heard all these stories, and he apologized for it!
His interview with Koenig on Raw Nerve was phenomenal because he seemed genuinely hurt and surprised when Koenig flat out said all these things to his face! And he said he was truly sorry for that behavior!

I didn't like my boss from Arby's when I was 16...I'm not still talking about it 24 years later!!

1, Captain Kirk
2. Spock
3. Bones
4. Scotty
5. Chekov
6. Uhura
7. Nurse Chapel
8. Sulu
9. Those red shirted guys who always die

Why do we care what Sulu has to say? I mean, c'mon, did he even have his own action figure???

I love Shatner. Boston Legal remains one of my favorite television shows of all time.

That said, when the entire cast of Star Trek holds a mixed-to-negative opinion of him, he was probably *was* a douche.

We're just used to it. Douches are Canada's number one export. Pat Sajak, Justin Bieber, Celine Dion, Pam Anderson, Jim Carrey, the list goes on and on. I think that's why Canada's such a nice place to live, they send all their douches to America.

Uh, wut? Shat did TJ Hooker, probably single-handedly made Priceline.com a success and has that great interview show, Raw Nerve. He's done quite well away from Trek.

Takei... came out of the closet and opened his filthy mouth on Stern. That's it?

I don't know if he was joking with Shatner with that comment, but if he was not, then Shatner at this point is coming out looking better for taking the high road and ignoring him.

It makes him look bad still whining on something that happened like 40 years ago

Oh and I had a chance to attend one of the early ST conventions but didn't want to spend 3 - 4 days each way in a car with the guys going (and their feet)

and I've heard that everyone with the exception of James Doohan was / is a dick

I read Mr. Takei's autobiography (I found it for 99 cents at K-Mart.)

He came across as a decent enough fellow, but so self-centered that ne never could accept that he wasn't the star of Star Trek, and still can't accept the fact that he couldn't accept that fact.

Get over it, Sulu. It wasn't your show.

Having dealt with him at a few conventions: he was a douche. I wasn't a fanboy, so he was a little less douchey toward me.

Nichols, Doohan, Koenig, Takei, Frakes, and Spiner were pretty nice. Heck, they were even jovial.

Shatner? Grade A Douche. I get it, don't get me wrong. He was famous, typecast, and didn't really deal well with the fans or jerks selling his autographs. Still, and Koenig is the best example of TOS, others just said "Frack it, life goes on."

Never met a douche from Star Trek, Babylon 5, or Hercules/Xena back in my con-going PA days. Mind you, my local con couldn't afford the A-listers much, and they are the ones more prone to being distanced from reality.

Pat Sajak has been terrorizing my hometown of Annapolis for years.
At any upscale eating establishment around, he is generally reviled.
I think he has a drinking problem, as well as a 'being an a-hole' problem.

Trivia about Sajak - when Adrian Cronauer (GOOOOD MORRRNNNNNING, VIETNAM!) left Vietnam, he was replaced by Sajak.

Shatner was great in American Psycho 2. Highly overrated actor but that is hands down his best work thus far in his lengthy career. That's just when he peaked. Could drop a few ell-bee's, though. Fatty Shat.
