It is the Mayans. I am pretty sure it is the Mayans. Once those sheep are dead and on their back, those will not be smiling marks on them.

It's really more of a sheepish grin.

Are we cool yet?

The farmers tried to count exactly how many sheep were branded, but they fell asleep.

Not branded, dyed. If you try to brand a sheep you will set it on fire.

Though The Flaming Sheep would be a good name for a band.

"The semi-permanent paint markings used to identify sheep are called a paint or colour brand." says the Wikipedia article on branding, so I guess "brand" is the correct term in this situation. But you're right in that it's not the "hot branding" that we normally think of when we hear about branding.

If the ranchers waited up a couple of nights with shotguns loaded with birdshot, I bet that nonsense would stop right quick.

I thought even the cops didn't have guns in England? It would be more like waiting up all night with strongly worded letters.

No, it would not be a good band name. Unless you like flaming sheep on your welcome matt.

It's only small firearms which are banned - you can own as many shotguns as you like with a license. It is true that the British police aren't armed during routine operations, but they do have access to guns (including pistols) if necessary, and that's more about us having a differing philosophy about how policing should work than anything to do with the '97 firearms act - our police have never been routinely armed.

Wait - there's a roller coaster named after the postcode for Kensington? Do you go round it in a Land Rover?

From the comments:
LOL I just looked up the logo for the new alton towers ride and it is EXACTLY the same... Publicity stunt written all over this and farmers must have been payed some good money..

A publicity stunt, feh. And here I was thinking it was an industrious perv marking his accomplishments. "Look how many sheep I shagged".
These days a documented run at the Guinness Book of Records for sheep shagging would probably get him his own television reality show.

Next thing you know the sheep will be trying to learn to fly, even though sheep are not creatures of the air.

Yet another stupid-ass manufactured "viral ad", with the permission and compensation of the farmers involved, accompanied by an article that basically lies its ass off presumably because the article's writer or publisher were also compensated for their efforts.

This is why I hate "viral advertising."

/Get the hell off my lawn. And stop spraypainting my damned sheep!
