Why is it that changing the design of a bill generates an astonishingly high amount of whining?

ie.
"The new bills melt under extremely difficult to reproduce conditions!"
"Why is the Queen still there?"
"Sure, there's a maple leaf, but it's Norwegian!"
etc.

"Norwgeian" maple is invasive -- the sugar maples' been around since mammoths were peeing on them.

Well, it's not quite as bad as the time everybody was seeing the American flag flying over Parliament Hill on the banknotes. Maybe they're getting better?

Save your North American Birds for when they put Pierre Elliott Trudeau on the Pinko Commie Fifty. I expect that by then the banknotes will be animated and Nixon will be on the US$300 banknote shaking his jowls and saying "I am not a crook. This banknote is legal tender for all legal commercial exchanges and under the table drug deals and felonies. And remember, it's not a crime if the US President does it, so blow me. Speaking of blow, here's my dealer. I have to go."

It may be considered invasive in some areas, but they are all over the east coast. It isn't like the tree is unknown outside of Europe. They are everywhere in NA.

We did declare independence, we just did it using a politely written post-it note asking if it was ok if we sort of, maybe, went our own separate ways but that we'd still totally be friends and things wouldn't get weird.

I have bad news for you. She well might be on Canada's money at least a dozen more years. That is not unreasonable to expect. Remember that her mother stayed in good health all the way until she died at age 104. I've been saying for years that she well might outlive Charles and give the kingship to William.

The branch arrangement of the maple leaf on the Canadian penny also has an error that has never been corrected and doesn't look like any native species either.

BATMANATEE: Canada still has a Queen because we would have to change our constitution to get rid of her. Every time we open the constitution to changes, Quebec goes full pants-on-head retarded trying to get their special snowflake status made law. It's worth keeping a foreign mascot on our money to not have to deal with a bunch of moronic banshees wailing about how nobody understands how feels to be so distinct.

And this! +1

Does one have to choke a biatch?

I have bad news for you. She well might be on Canada's money at least a dozen more years. That is not unreasonable to expect. Remember that her mother stayed in good health all the way until she died at age 104. I've been saying for years that she well might outlive Charles and give the kingship to William.

Then will Canada put the new Queen's own royal bewbies on the $20?

/$100?

Unless you know something the rest of us don't know, I'm not expecting spectacular royal bewbies from William. Or less likely Charles.

The maple leaf on our flag is not a real maple leaf. Why are you trying to identify a species, CBC? They are stylized. You guys are just trolling the BoC for giggles now.

I guess the Latin Americans refuse to update the picture so they don't have to look at an ugly face when using the bills.

The worst of the new designs has been for the $100. On the back of it is a celebration of Canada's contribution to science.
The three things being celebrated in the images and iconography are:

• The development of insulin by Frederick Banting and Charles Best.
• The invention of the pacemaker by John Hopps.
* The (largely) computer generated mapping of the human genome by  Dr. Tom Hudson.

And what did they do? Put an unnamed woman scientist on the money, apparently staring at a 1970s-era microscope. Because, um...girls need to be encouraged in science by teaching false history.

She is the Queen of Canada, so that might explain it.

Well if our neighbors to the north want any real respect, and for the world to not just consider them America Jr., they should grow a set and declare independence, like we did.

Umm....Canada is an independent and sovereign state. It has a Queen, who is the head of state.

And they have to share her with a bunch of other countries:

How's that going for ya? We are independent. We are our own country. Yes we have the Queen as a figurehead much like you have Obama. She doesn't govern the country and has no real power, but we kind of like to keep her around.

Gotta say, the queen still looks like a milf on the Caribbean money. Hasn't she visited since 1960?

First thing I would do if elected PM of Canada as the leader of the Rhino Party (well other than 2 potholes in every road) is put this on the currency.

Actually Norway has Canada (or a big chunk of it) on their 200 Kroner note, so I'm going to call it even.
