Misspelling of "Norwegian" aside, I wonder when Canada is going to quit putting the farking Queen of England on their currency.  We don't have her on ours, you know?  Why all the respect to Betty Windsor?

Whatever you do Canada, don't put a "Toronto Maple Leaf" on the bill as it will immediately lower its value

Why is it that changing the design of a bill generates an astonishingly high amount of whining?

ie.
"The new bills melt under extremely difficult to reproduce conditions!"
"Why is the Queen still there?"
"Sure, there's a maple leaf, but it's Norwegian!"
etc.

Hasn't the Norwegian Maple been growing in geographical Canada since before the nation of Canada even existed?

How is it any less Canadian than the Sugar Maple?

It looks like some of the other leaves on the bill are representative of Canadian maples, so meh. In the US o' 'M we have a pyramid on our currency. Don't see us getting all pissy towards Egyptians or making up stupid conspiracy theories about sh*t and stuff.

"Norwgeian" maple is invasive -- the sugar maples' been around since mammoths were peeing on them.

Well, it's not quite as bad as the time everybody was seeing the American flag flying over Parliament Hill on the banknotes. Maybe they're getting better?

Save your North American Birds for when they put Pierre Elliott Trudeau on the Pinko Commie Fifty. I expect that by then the banknotes will be animated and Nixon will be on the US$300 banknote shaking his jowls and saying "I am not a crook. This banknote is legal tender for all legal commercial exchanges and under the table drug deals and felonies. And remember, it's not a crime if the US President does it, so blow me. Speaking of blow, here's my dealer. I have to go."

It may be considered invasive in some areas, but they are all over the east coast. It isn't like the tree is unknown outside of Europe. They are everywhere in NA.

Well if our neighbors to the north want any real respect, and for the world to not just consider them America Jr., they should grow a set and declare independence, like we did.

We did declare independence, we just did it using a politely written post-it note asking if it was ok if we sort of, maybe, went our own separate ways but that we'd still totally be friends and things wouldn't get weird.

I have bad news for you. She well might be on Canada's money at least a dozen more years. That is not unreasonable to expect. Remember that her mother stayed in good health all the way until she died at age 104. I've been saying for years that she well might outlive Charles and give the kingship to William.

Never underestimate Canadian prescience in designing their money. They put Justin Beaver on the back of their nickels 57 years before their #1 export to the world was even born.

Plenty of us have been trying, but unfortunately the baby boomer generation really bought into the Pro-England propaganda campaign growing up.

Once enough of them die off we will be kicking that biatch to the curb.

Independence from what, exactly? Canada isn't a British colony anymore.

Yeah, isn't her role as queen of Canada officially separate from her role as queen of the United Kingdom (and Jamaica, Australia, New Zealand, etc.)? Not really sure how that works, but I think it's the case.
