ManateeGag: I wouldn't mind being on Scarlet Johansson.  my wife may have an issue with it though.

Well let her go first then.

Say what you will about Scarlett Johansson's hotness (and there is plenty to be said, and ogled at), but Liz Taylor and Paul Newman were possibly the hottest couple of all time in that movie.

DontMakeMeComeBackThere: She posesses a pleasingly shaped body, but she is not sexy.

Pretty sure it's her body, not a case of demonic possession, so yes she is sexy.

Ah yes, a woman with meat on her bones.

Hot =/= talent as an actress.

To be fair, that's a moderately hard role to pull off and the play kind of lends itself to mediocrity to begin with. Williams' subtlety was almost entirely in the writing rather than the theatrical portrayals, so actual productions have a tendency to either be entirely director-dependent or incredibly aimless.

Um, I mean I'm a manly man, what kind of fairy cares about broadway anyhow hyuck hyuck?

ScarJo is ridiculously over-rated as an actress. She is hot, sure, but not in an extreme measure.

maverickzy: She wasn't seductive as the Black Widow either. She's hot, certainly, attractive, certainly. But she's not seductive.

Men fall at her feet. She doesn't have to be seductive. Also, she's primarily a film actress. Stage is a different ballgame. She doesn't only have to seduce her fellow actor, she has to secude the entire audience, and that demands a level of talent and charisma, not to mention strength of personality, that I don't think she possesses.

///Paul Newman was GORGEOUS in that movie

Straight male here, no problem agreeing with you on Paul Newman. It'd be like saying "Oh, I didn't pay attention to whether or not Michaelangelo's David was supposed to be an attractive man, because I'm straight." Newman was a good looking fellow in his day.

Thom Geier admired Johansson's "fierce, fighting spirit" in the role, but added, "for a movie star with major sex-appeal, she falls surprisingly short in seductiveness. Her Cat flashes her claws, but doesn't purr."

I don't want to make any sweeping generalizations or assumptions but there may be an attribute common to male Broadway critics.
