Wait, why aren't they doing a sequel? I thought the first one was pretty successful. I mean I know the idea started as a TV show, but I don't see it being a big success without the original actors from the movie

I think the problem with doing a sequel is that the entire cast is really in demand now, so it is probably hard as hell to get them together for shooting, especially with The Hunger Games and Spider Man movies to have to schedule around.

Michael Cera can't be that busy.

it was originally written as a tv show. This IS the sequel.

What's the SpiderMan conflict? I know Woody is in Hunger Games (very limited role).

Either way I'm a fan of the movie but not that big of a fan of Michael Cera so I see this as a win win.

Andrew Garfield is in Spiderman.

Bill Murray was the voice of Garfield.

Bill Murray was in Zombieland!

Duh!!!

Given her extensive experience, I wonder if they'll hire Sarah Wayne Callies.

Emma Stone is playing Gwen Stacey for at least another movie or two.

I enjoyed the flim but this has little to no appeal to me.

A World War Z TV show could have been cool as a series of espiodes with each episode consisting of a single interveiw/flashback with survivors and only a loosely connected "plot". But now Brad PItt is going to go and ruin it all with his stupid movie :(

oh damn. That was Emma Stone in Zombieland. Ok, I see the problem now. We can't have another SpiderMan movie without Ms Stacey and her thigh highs...

No!

CBS would NEVER rip off another media property!  This is, like, totally original because its funny!

/Let alone do it twice!

Because Walking dead is so original?

/also, the Zombieland TV show has been in the works longer than Walking Dead has existed.

It needs to be a movie not a television show and it needs more Emma. Maybe she can rescue Kat Dennings or something. They're friends. It could happen.

Not sure how true this is, but I heard it was a pretty big hit in the US but bombed overseas. With the expense and complication of getting Woody and Emma back, they just couldn't get the numbers to work.

I'm figuring that it happens either at the end of the second movie in the new trilogy, or at the end of the first act of the third.

That's won't happen. She's one of the main characters! They never kill off one of the main characters.

$75 million US vs. $26 million overseas on a budget of $23 million, so I wouldn't really call it a bomb overseas. It's also pretty good for a movie coming near the beginning of the zombie/supernatural craze with a cast that wasn't well known at the time. Released now, a sequel with the original cast would probably do quite well, even overseas.

Main problem with continuing as a series?
No more Twinkies.

TV show could work but need a decent cast (won't get any from the movie, Charlie Sheen isn't busy), and a decent writer.

Ohhh they could totally work that into it. Tallahasee discovers the ACTUAL FACTORY for twinkies, but it shut down production completely, causing him to go on a roaring rampage.

Well, Walking Dead is original in bringing the genre to television. And it doesn't matter if a Zombieland show has been in the works since the beginning of time, it isn't on tv yet and Walking Dead is in the third season.

Also, even if Zombieland was originally supposed to be a tv show, it wasn't, so this will still just be another Ferris Beuller tv spinoff in the modern day... rewarming what made the movie work with a different cast playing already cast characters. It's not a good idea.

He did a reddit AMA not long ago and said script issues initially held things up.  Now it's a problem getting the cast together:

Originally we couldn't agree on a script for a sequel, so it got held up, but now I think trying to schedule Jesse, Woody and Emma would be pretty tough even if we had one. I heard a rumor they were trying to take it back to TV (which it was originally conceived to be a TV show, but I am not aware of the status of the project, nor am I involved with it.

Here's the actual post he made: http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/16bt3i/i_am_ruben_fleischer_the _ director_of_the_upcoming/c7ukjyj

Hmm, didn't know he did 30 Minutes or Less. That makes me a little worried about how a sequel would work out, since 30 Minutes was a TERRIBLE movie.

One thing, and one thing only, will keep this show from being a rabid pile of suck:

NO MOTHERFARKING LAUGH TRACK

Seriously, we don't need to know when to laugh. We can figure it out on our own.

Another zombie tv show based on one of the funnest zombie movies ever?

Awesome!
