Yup, because nobody in the history of ever has posted a fake Craigslist ad just for shiats and giggles. And certainly nobody has ever even conceived of the idea of posting a fake Craigslist ad just for shiats and giggles and then posting it to a bunch of online "media" sites to get more attention for it. It's even more inconceivable, absolutely unfathomable in fact, that someone who works or writes for an online media site would themselves write such an ad just to be able to cover it on their own site. Inconceivable, I say.

It's also simply incomprehensible that someone with strong writing skills working for an online media site would post a Craigslist ad for the purposes of writing a revenue-generating article on their own site and then post denigrating remarks about said article on news aggregation sites, further increasing exposure and revenue.

megarian: There are many fetishes I simply do not understand.

*sigh* Detroit. Really. Well, with the advancements of science, mathematics and technology the human race is becoming more able to understand the world around us along with the universe we are in. Ancient beliefs such as the world being flat and that diseases were caused by 'bad air' have been fundamently disproved. Through objectivity we are able to learn more about our universe, such as only recently we established that at the middle of our universe lies a black hole. Our knowledge is expanding and the majority of people are now able to analyse and criticize theories, statements and ideas. For example if today I predicted an outcome of an event using an equation, other people could repeat the equation to assess whether my prediction is correct. If say for example I made a statement that the world would explode tomorrow, and behold this does not happen it is obvious that I was wrong and my statement was therefore incorrect.

Chance is another factor which effects certain outcomes, by repeating a test, observation or experiment continuously whilst each time the result is the same I am effectively proving that the outcome is more and more certain, thus highlighting a lower and lower chance of my prediction being wrong.

Death, natural disasters and winning the lottery to give a few examples will always occur. If I purchased a lottery ticket the probability of me winning would be exceptionally low, but someone will win the lottery. Death likewise will always occur, along with birth. It is obviously unfortunate when someone dies but it happens to everyone as this is a natural process and not which so far we can stop. Natural disasters happen across the world at one point or another, and they always will happen.

Why is it that even with everything I have said, which includes chance, objectivity, and advancements in science and technology some people STILL believe in a god. Think about it, if today I attempted to create a religion or a theory of religion I would need proof of everything I would say to prove beyond any reasonable doubt that what I am saying is true. If I said, God created dogs I would need to disprove all other scientific theories which have already been scrutinized thoroughly involving the idea of evolution. I would haveto be objective and provide facts, information, data and NOT just my opinion. Likewise if I wanted to prove the fact that God created earth, I would need to carry out the same process. If I just stated my opinion and wrote a few articles of my belief it would be crystal clear that I had not proven anything, in fact I would have just stated my opinion. My opinion could be that God lives in a tiny rock located in my car boot, but it would just be an opinion unless I could provide proof that this theory is true. Imagine if throughout history all advancements would be based on opinion, we would never have been able to know the truth of our world as our blind faith would limit our objectivity.

So why is it that after everything I've said some people STILL believe that a magical God has an influence on our lives, selectively choosing when people die and deciding where and when natural disasters happen. Why is it people believe that when events happen with a low probability these events were obviously caused by the almighty God, such as winning the lottery when it's a known fact that someone each week is most likely going to win the lottery. Why is it some people refuse to believe in the theory of evolution when the theory itself has likewise been scrutinized to such an extent that all opposing ideas against evolution have failed to find a flaw in the theory. Why is it that even after observation of the peppered moth evolving so that its complete body colour changed from white to black some people still choose to believe this does not occur and that God created all animals. Why is it that there is no scientific proof of god existing and no facts to support the theory that god ever existed some people still choose to believe in god.

A belief is a belief, I could believe that I am Jesus himself reborn, but my belief does not make me correct unless I could prove it. So after everything I have said can somebody who believes in a form of God, please give me an intelligent answer as to why you choose to follow religion whilst we live in the 21st century. Detroit sucks.
