I thought we established this during Obama's first four years?

Is it January 20th already?

Political posturing at best, and a sad attempt at it.

Cant let the other team get a touch down.

So are unfunded mandates, unpaid military adventures, transgressions of the Constitution...

Duh. It's never fascism when your side does it. That's why both sides suck, so vote third party.

If you vote 3rd party, you're an idiot for not voting for one of the "winners".

Except that as established yesterday, these weren't Executive Orders anyway. They are more like Executive Suggestions...

I'm really convinced that, at this point, the Republican party isn't really about governing any more as much as about bilking angry idiots out of their money.

Oh, good, a blog post about a comedian's reaction to actual news, that consists primarily to an (unlicensed) reposting of a comedy skit that is itself primarily repostings of the actual media reports, which in turn only indirectly reference the executive orders in question.

This is incredibly likely to be a relevant link that adds to my knowledge of executive policy.

That's a stupid thing to say: "Don't vote the way you really feel, because WINNARS!".

If I don't like either the Democrat or the Republican, I still have to vote for one or the other, or not vote at all? Isn't that anti-American? After all, if that were always true, we'd still be voting for either the Federalist Party or the Democratic-Republican Party.

Executive orders can only be good when they are actually executive orders.

You have it wrong

Its not about good governance, its about winning.

We humans have a psychological need to compete. You see this in everyday life, from wanting to one-up your neighbor for who has the best garden all the way to proudly displaying your hot girlfriend to show your friends that you are better than them because you can pick up a hot lady.

The 2008 losses were tough on the GOP. They lost by a lot, so they tried a new strategy: non-stop aggressive offense. They dont care about a yellow flag or unnecessary roughness or even a false start, they just want to win.

Teddy Roosevelt used hundreds of them and ran utterly roughshod over Congress, and he's consistently one of the most popular presidents.

It all depends on what they get used for.

I've seen literally nothing among the 23 newer ones that seems at all objectionable or circumvents congressional authority. The closest one is the call for the AWB, which I don't even think they expect to get...that was probably little more than a "at least I tried" bone to throw to the liberal constituency.

I find it kind of disturbing that some people have a Pavlovian reaction to the mere mention of doing something about gun violence.

What, you would have preferred "your blog sucks"?

Just sayin', a site called "the raw story" giving us the story fifth-hand, kind of pointless and stupid. Subby realizes that there was an actual press release directly from the White House about the executive orders, yeah?  Or at least directly link the Daily Show, I assume they still have a clip site given that they go out on Hulu.

I was just paraphrasing the majority of comments here about voting 3rd party before the election (wasted vote, etc). I didn't actually believe what I posted, I'm more in line with your assessment - it's an incredibly stupid thing to say.

Amazing how many people around here actually believe it though.

Research is great....they should do more research and cover all their bases but some people will be sceptical about how well the rsearch is done.

Sometimes research is done to in order to create a specific outcome....we saw this with the research about medical bankruptcies where anyone with 1000$ owed for medical reasons was considered a medical bankruptcy but they did not say anything about the other debt someone owed....if they had 60k in credit card bills that they couldn't pay was that 1000$ really the resason for the bankruptcy?

The larger point I'm trying to make it's how unbalanced the right's hyperbole is now based on their own misdeeds under Bush.  They don't even try to argue how the situations may have been different.  They go straight for the insane rhetoric with no connection to reality.

I suppose I can't blame them for the shameless hypocrisy.  Recognizing one's hypocrisy requires self-awareness.  And this GOP crop is sorely lacking in that quality.

Yes, power does enter the equation. It is possibly the most motivating factor for why people get into politics. But what about the non-politicians who are partisan to their core?

Reality has a liberal bias.
Keep funding research until you get the results you want,
or your constituents become convinced.

Whichever comes first.
