"I've been in this community for 35 years," said Central Michigan University Police Chief Bill Yeagley. "I don't remember anything like this."

Odd, so I am guessing Facebook was not around 35 years ago?

The Ford Escape is a LIE!

2013-01-18 09:51:13 AM
Police say Eric Ramsey, 30, of Mt. Pleasant went on a rampage Wednesday. He kidnapped and raped a college student, set a house on fire, stole a truck and fled before being shot dead by authorities.

At least the story ended well.

jehovahs witness protection: The Ford Escape is a LIE!

Well, the girl escaped from the vehicle by jumping out while it was moving, so there's that.

The victim is safe and with her family, police said.

"I believe she made all the right choices," Yeagley said. "She's the true hero in this."

I'm going to go out on a limb and say the 13 year old kid that hid her, and guarded the bathroom door armed with a knife, was the true hero here.
She falls more under the hapless victim category.

Why did the woman get in the car with him? Isn't the general advice to RUN if accosted in this way?

I mean even with a gun you're not going to improve the situation by being alone with the criminal.

Article's headline is confusing. CMU student's night of terror ended in rape and escape. CMU student's rapist's night of EXTREME SPEED DATING ended with a Facebook post and a shot.

The child did an amazing job of protecting his siblings and the victim. Way beyond his years!

I hope he, and the colleges student are doing well. How incredibly traumatic.

I have a feeling I'm not getting the "lesson" here. What exactly needs to be controlled or banned because of this situation? SUV's? Gas cans? Flat-bed trucks? Rape? Rape-Rape? "Legitimate" rape? Rape-rape-rape?

it's a tough call. i know people how have been carjacked at gun point. told to drive the criminal somewhere, and then they just got beat up. there are other people who have denied a gun wielding criminal and gotten shot and killed. there aren't really any correct decisions (or at least, any why of knowing which decision is correct before the fact), there's just the lucky decision.

i don't agree. she saved a life (her own) by jumping out of a moving car after being beaten and raped. further, her escape allowed her to notify police of the crime spree which expedited police to find him. had she not had the courage to jump from a moving vehicle, the police would not have been notified till much later, and she would probably be dead, and the guy might still be on the spree to get someone else.

People do not always act in the most rational manner when a gun is pointed at them. But of course, I am sure that if that happened to YOU, you would ninja-kick the gun right out of his hands.

Thank you. A hero is a person who risks her own life to better a situation. Jumping out of a car is one thing, but knowing that car could simply brake and you would be shot 5 seconds later is another. 14 year old was also a hero but don't think the girl was not.

Yes, and she had the wherewithal to keep it together long enough to get help, call 911, and provide information to the police, all this after being suddenly kidnapped at gunpoint, raped, told your going to get killed, escaping, finding your only help is a tweener, and then having your potential murdered practically kicking the door in. I'd say she was pretty freaking awesome.

One last Facebook status update capped a bizarre night of terror in central Michigan during which police say a prison parolee abducted a college student at gunpoint, raped her, set fire to a house, stole a flatbed truck and rammed three police cars.

"Well folkes im about to get shot. Peace."

That was the message Eric Ramsey posted from his cell phone to his Facebook page apparently just moments before he was fatally shot by a sheriff's deputy, ending a crime rampage that started in Mt. Pleasant and stretched 85 miles north to the Grayling area.

/Good, another scumbag criminal parasite gunned down, and we don't have to pay for him. Buh bye.

I would call that a calculated risk. She was pretty sure staying with the car was going to get her killed. Whereas, jumping from the car, while certainly guaranteeing an injury, may increase her chances of survival.
I seriously doubt she was thinking about stopping this guy before he committed any violent acts upon anyone else. She was trying to save her own ass. I'm not saying this was a bad thing, I'd be in the same mindset.
Saving your own skin is not heroic, it's a built-in instinct. Risking your life trying to save someone else's ass is heroic.

Then you would need to make space by letting out the ones who are in there for non-violent drug possession... and we can't have that. Are you trying to destroy the jobs of the hard working private prison guards?
