whizbangthedirtfarmer: BigBooper: whizbangthedirtfarmer: Special ed teachers need all the help they can get to make it through the day.

When I was much younger, I worked briefly for a packing company where about 50% of the employees were developmentally disabled to one degree or another. They would pare the normal people with a handicapped person. (were a team, YEA!) Hey, it's mindless work, so why not give it to the mindless. Anyways, If they had drug tested us, they would have found 90% of us were using something. How can you not pack tampons into a box by hand while your "partner", who has the mental ability of a five year old, talks ALL FARKING DAY if your not stoned out of your mind.

God, I had nearly erased that memory with excessive alcohol use.

/yes, I'm sure I was one of the "normal" employees

I worked in an elementary school across the hall from the special ed teacher. I had some special ed students in my class. After a few years of teaching, I discovered I was pretty much the only teacher in the entire building that was not on anti-depressants, drank heavily, or took anti-anxiety meds. Hell, my wife is still a teacher, and she's had to throw in the towel after several years of teaching and get a prescrip for an anti-anxiety med.

It would be interesting to see just how many teachers on all levels are medicated or self-medicating when they get home. I would guess well over half.

It comes from looking at the fat bastard of a super collecting 250k for being a general contractor, your union rep hitting on you every time they see you, dealing with mouth breathing helicopter parents, listening to little snowflakes on hormone overload and opening your mail the last week of every month and looking at the latest installment on your 20 year college debt.
I think they're pretty strong considering hardly any teachers commit active suicide.

Look, you can either deal with special ed children all day, everyday, or you can have a drug-free school. Take your pick.

If only those other teachers had been armed with their own heroin.
