I'd like to see a Madchester cruise with the Happy Mondays, Stone Roses, Inspiral Carpets, Charlatans and James around the greek islands.
There might not be enough money and drugs in the world though. Or wah wah pedals.

Where wolf: No thanks. if I'm going to go on a boat to the 90's, I'll do sister hazel's Rock Boat. they usually have a more entertaining lineup and even artists that are new (or at the very least still writing music).

I can't speak for McGrath or Smash Mouth but Marcy Playground and Collective Soul have been consistently putting out records since their top 40 days. Gin Blossoms put their fourth record out a couple years ago. They didn't find these guys under a rock and tell them to get back together, for the most part (probably because it's not worth it). They're honestly just bands trying to hack it who happen to have had success in the past. If someone still wants to see them, I can't fault them. That's just being a dick (and apparently AVClub earns its hits being a dick, which is fine. There's no bad publicity)

Trying to earn anything while being a live band is still a pain in the ass. If these guys can play 9 songs followed by their three hits that's honestly not so bad. It's a tough business, and no one gives you shiat for trying to do your job, just because it's not in public.

People still go out in droves to see the Foo Fighters, who have had one decent song in the last ten years. At some point the Rolling Stones are going to die off, but they're still out there working and earning.

The All-Powerful Atheismo: How dare you speak ill of the Gin Blossoms, Collective Soul, and Live.

Some of the best music of the 90's came from those artists.

I can't say any of those artists are that bad, but that's a rather depressing opinion.

Long before Fark.com and its obsession with ranking people's faces by punchability1, I believed that Mark McGrath's face was eminently punchable. There was just something unlikeable about it.

1. it's a hobby on the Politics Tab, at least.

I am saving all my derision for the people who pay to take a Third-Wave Ska cruise.

cretinbob: fusillade762: Sugar Ray, Spin Doctors, Smash Mouth, other '90s bands to be set adrift on the ocean

That has got to be one of the most disappointingly misleading headlines I've ever read.

pretty much

"In addition to denying '90s alt-rock radio the dignity of a Viking funeral... "

It wasn't alt-rock, it was pop. If you heard it on the radio, it's pop, end of discussion.

because everyone knows there is only one format of radio.
