How neat is this. Not only has teh kitteh lost the weight, but he now has his own line of neckwear! Which is giving his adoption agency some much needed reve-mew!

Our cat never did the cwn routine, but she wasn't adverse to walking across your head if you didn't wake up when she wanted you to.

The fat cat story got me to get off my lazy butt and find a picture of the fat cats. This picture dates back to 1998 if not earlier, and both of these cats have long ago crossed the Rainbow Bridge. Meet Foof (up top) and Zak, the meatloaf cats. Sisters, they got up to about 17 pounds on small frames. My ex kept these two when she moved out, I got the other 3.

i380.photobucket.com

Foof was originally Foots because of her white socks, she was renamed Foof because she had foof for brains!

Greetings from Virginia, where we have SNOW !  1.5 inches so far.. local (and accurate) forecaster says 3-6" tonight... supposed to end early tomorrow morning... both cars covered already.. Feral Fred is in the utility room in his heated bed.. according to the footprints, he came out, looked around, and went back inside... the inside crew are occupying all the windows.. lots of vocalizations.. probably translate to many WTF,s.. I will bring them a bowl of the snow tomorrow am... should be interesting.. had a white cat named Snowball (RIP)...  liked to play cat-dozer in the stuff... would put his head down and run... looovved the snow, but loved the sun more....i.imgur.com

Sounds like you're getting more of this than we are up here in snow country (upstate NY)! I used to keep a shovel on my deck back at the old house so I could shovel a path for the beasties, they'd go hang out under it just to get out of the house. Snuffy is now our only outdoor cat, and he's decided he's too old for that sh*t. We got a foot a couple of weeks ago, he didn't go out for days!

Just a thought...
Did you ever consider giving him hushpuppies to help blow out that hairball?
Might make for some interesting "wall art", though.

Ha!! Lily will do the "cold nose", then the "PURRRRSSS in the face, then will get up behind me and lick my hair!! After I yell at her, and pull the covers up to cover my face, she will flop down next to me, and "huff". Too funny!

You sir, are a genius! I've seen what those things can do!

It could still come in handy. He hasn't pooped yet. I'm pretty sure the pain meds have something to do with that.

Have some editing to do this eve if I can, also scanning of sheet music unless need to make Plumbicon do it. My scanner scans filthily, more than just cleaning off scanning surface. Copies come out grey.

In Kathleen O'Keefe Sikes obit in Cincinnati Enquirer Jan 17, 2012

One story Katie's family tells is about how she refused to install a security system in her Indian Hill (posh high-rent-district Cincinnati suburb) home. Instead, "she insisted the 4-foot rubber snake she put in the hallway would work much better than all the electronics one might muster," the family wrote in a biography they shared with The Enquirer.

Thank Ceiling Cat for Caturday!

Hubby came to bed this morning just before my alarm went off - he'd been up all night playing Xbox. Cracker Jack was sleeping on the bed but woke up when hubby came in. Hubby told Cracker Jack to wake me up, so he did - by walking across my head and sticking a paw in my face. I've been cranky all day. Thanks, kitty.

B4 family back again. had to make an unexpected trip up to Ohio for a while to take care of a situation up there with my dad. Happy now that he's doing well, and happy to be home again. Kinda hard being up there and by myself, but everything now seems to be going quietly. We're actually getting snow right now, which is really strange to see here in the heart of Virginia, but nice to see nonetheless. Kittehs, ferrets, turtle, and lizards are all doing well and the kittehs are rambunctious as all get out this evening. Hope everyone is doing well and I'll get a few more pics up here soon.

Thankfully, I don't have any pics of Lily in a cone.....she has been a very healthy little girl since I got her, except for one little bought with a bladder infection a while back. I bought some spray catnip to put on some of her toys, and she just wanted to lick it off. Right after that, she had some pee problems. Threw the sh*t away! She's been fine ever since! :D

Love the cat's eyes!

This is Carbon with his evil eyes on:

farm9.staticflickr.com

He's not feeling the love, either. This was taken shortly after he came to live with us - it has been a difficult adjustment for all involved, but we're getting there.

This pretty much sums up this area when the white stuff comes down out of the sky. Especially the ferret terrorists. Not sure what it is about snow, but the two times they've seen it, they absolutely freak out and go even more insane then they already are.

Proud to report that my state is #2 in terms of households with cats---46%. Only Vermont tops Maine with 49.5%. We love our kittehs.

Full disclosure---submitted this as a potential Caturday thread Tuesday night. Got redlit, but still wanted to share.

Snuffybud: OlderGuy: Greetings from Virginia, where we have SNOW ! I will bring them a bowl of the snow tomorrow am... should be interesting.. had a white cat named Snowball (RIP)...  liked to play cat-dozer in the stuff... would put his head down and run... looovved the snow, but loved the sun more....[i.imgur.com image 850x637]

Biscuit is recuperating nicely. I'll have pics tomorrow. His pupils have been so blown from the pain meds I haven't had the heart to use the flash.
He just had his dinner and meds. It's nap time now.

This is excellent news... so glad things went well !

I can honestly say that I have this alarm clock, and it goes "off" even when I don't have to get up for work. I think we've all been there...... :D

Our cat never did the cwn routine, but she wasn't adverse to walking across your head if you didn't wake up when she wanted you to.

Don't blame the poor kitty, blame your husband instead. It's waaaay more fun.

yobbery: Biscuit went under his blanket a while ago. He doesn't do that much, but he's also doesn't spend much time on drugs either.
We thought he went under there to pass out, but the wife just peeked in on him and the little shiat went under there to wiggle out of his cone.

[i211.photobucket.com image 500x360]

Heh! Sounds like he's feeling better already.

I think my Mom was from Rochester.. Dad was from NH.. went to private school in Freeville, near Cortland... remember slogging through 4 ft.... state snowblowers would pile it up 20 feet at the sides of the roads.. we used to tunnel through them.. made some neat ice slides !!..  six feet... wow !  I would so have to do tunnels.... at that point, Richmond would be on standby...  every front end loader around here would be converging on the bridges, and the James would get real slushy... more reason to be glad I did the generator route...got a month's worth of LP for that...
Got about 2" on the ground and roads.. ground,s too warm for it to freeze...possibility of black ice in the morning... I have a clip on the inside of the front door... reminder is posted for tomorrow.. never could get into the 'string on finger' routine...
/ Be glad it wasn't beans..  :o)

Hello everybodeee!

yobbery: quantum_jellyroll: Just a thought...
Did you ever consider giving him hushpuppies to help blow out that hairball?

You sir, are a genius! I've seen what those things can do!

It could still come in handy. He hasn't pooped yet. I'm pretty sure the pain meds have something to do with that.
Going to check in with the vet tomorrow if we don't get any 'presents' by morning.

You're right about pain meds slowing down the digestive tract. Can't speak for cats, not being a vet...but as a human that's something you want to get on RIGHT AWAY. The longer the...er...'stuff marked for disposal' sits up there, the harder and drier it gets...and harder to get rid of.
Think of it as giving birth to spiked bricks...

I haz a dammit dammit dammit....
Neighbor's poor slut kitty is in heat AGAIN and so this huge long-haired tuxedo beast of destruction is coming around and beating up MY cats. I've dropped over $100 at the vet in the last week dealing with some nasty abcesses. Riktor and D'Artagnan have matching head wounds thanks to this monster.
I've told the neighbors that I will spring for getting poor Abbey fixed, but they just never seem to get around to getting hold of her while she's not pregnant or nursing.
They complain that all she's interested in is getting knocked up and she's not a very nice cat (insert eyeroll here)...GET HER SPAYED, DAMN IT!
She'll probably thank you and she'll be a completely different cat when not ruled by 'MUST REPRODUCE!' hormones.

Thanks for letting me vent...going to go speak to the neighbors...AGAIN...today.

Brian Blessed's Bastard Boy: B4 family back again. had to make an unexpected trip up to Ohio for a while to take care of a situation up there with my dad.

And then to add to it all I just cut the tip of Carls' ear off changing his bandages! He put his ear right in to the scissors!! OMG I'm about to cry!!! I had his face in my hand!!

Hey, any port in a storm! I'm sure that with some antibiotic creme it will be fine. Maybe some apology tuna is in order as well...of course, Eli suggests some nice nommy chicken...cooked of course! If you notice in Eli's pics, one of his ears is notched. No idea how that happened except it was an outdoor cat injury. It only really bothers me! I once had a cat who was bitten, we think by an oppossum..he had a perfect hole in his ear..he was a black kitteh with one eye(accident, nasty...nasty) so we kept threatening to put a gold hoop in it....so of course it healed right up!

Try not to be too hard on yourself. Shisa happens.

So, the exciting news for the week is....Boy and I will be performing for the Ohio Chataqua once again. He will be playing violin, and I will be singing..anyone know any nice songs from 1760-1812?? Going to do Amazing Grace (1780) and ?? I'm thinking tavern songs. I've looked at a few..wowsers! and you thought modern song lyrics were raunchy...so much for prim and proper! :)

Eli only cares about the feathers in caps...

Works for 1814....so too late! :( a vocal challenge!) I have to keep things SFW as there will be kids there. From what I have read, I could get by with "Drunken Sailor" even though it doesnt appear in print until later..evidently it is an ooold sea shanty..and it talks about lifting the anchor...weigh ho, up and over...so I might be able to squeeek that in..I need 4-5 songs, and I think I will do it sans instrumentation..which would be in keeping of the time...they had tin whistles, stringed instruments(pocket violin???) and the harpsicord..some other wacky wind instruments...sometimes it's fun to sing in the key of me!

Never mind..I gots it! From the research I've done, many of the songs "we" sang were of Irish/Scottish origins..and they are old! So, I can be reasonable sure that people would have at least known them. I will be Amazing Grace. But I don't know if I will begin or end with that piece. Dunno how many verses I will do either..it has 6 verses! Who knew??

Better do Amazing Grace at the end. It always makes me cry, If I heard it at the beginning I'd be sniffling thru the rest, However Jack the dog loves to sing along with it.

No worries....He presented us with an uber poop today. He's sleeping it off now.

That is what I was thinking...this song was written by a former slave ship captain, who, during a storm, called out to be saved. And his life was never the same after. I believe the words came before the hymn...I think the first published word/music was 1789...yes, it really is that old. And yes, I will use the original words...not the modern ones..

That's not the half of it.
John Newton (the songs writer) was probably one of the worst examples of humanity to ever live.
He was hated by his crew almost as much as he was hated by his cargo of slaves.
The law of the sea requires that one *must* attempt to save anyone washed overboard.
When swept overboard during a storm at sea, his crew stuck to the letter of the law, while violating
the spirit of the law.

Rather that a more normal method of rescue.
They *harpooned* him!

Needless to say, his life changed a great deal after that incident.

Was an interesting day.....I was on a conference call when my cell phone started meowing (sound it makes when I get a text).  Text was from one of the participants  who was going to be late.  The others on the call asked 'are you at home, was that one of your cats'.  I explained that my phone meows when I get a text and howls when I get a phone call...at that point my phone meows again and I hear laughter.  I think they may like me.
