tigerose,
I started the day off cleaning poopy up when the laxatone worked with kitty kitty as he was trying to get impacted again. Done with that. Then I was supposed to go to school and take a chapter test that had to be done by.... you guessed it ! TODAY! Well, the school closed because of snow.... dammit! And then to add to it all I just cut the tip of Carls' ear off changing his bandages! He put his ear right in to the scissors!! OMG I'm about to cry!!! I had his face in my hand!!

Oh sweetheart! That is just awful! I am sure he will forgive you. After all my Mom's dog forgave her even though she accidentally cut off a nipple...I'm guessing it's not one of those we can reattach it deals...try to remember they do this to ferals, to mark them as spayed...do you have pain meds for him? For you, I'd suggest a nice glass of vino...emergency rations as it were..

Hey, any port in a storm! I'm sure that with some antibiotic creme it will be fine. Maybe some apology tuna is in order as well...of course, Eli suggests some nice nommy chicken...cooked of course! If you notice in Eli's pics, one of his ears is notched. No idea how that happened except it was an outdoor cat injury. It only really bothers me! I once had a cat who was bitten, we think by an oppossum..he had a perfect hole in his ear..he was a black kitteh with one eye(accident, nasty...nasty) so we kept threatening to put a gold hoop in it....so of course it healed right up!

Try not to be too hard on yourself. Shisa happens.

So, the exciting news for the week is....Boy and I will be performing for the Ohio Chataqua once again. He will be playing violin, and I will be singing..anyone know any nice songs from 1760-1812?? Going to do Amazing Grace (1780) and ?? I'm thinking tavern songs. I've looked at a few..wowsers! and you thought modern song lyrics were raunchy...so much for prim and proper! :)

Eli only cares about the feathers in caps...

Works for 1814....so too late! :( a vocal challenge!) I have to keep things SFW as there will be kids there. From what I have read, I could get by with "Drunken Sailor" even though it doesnt appear in print until later..evidently it is an ooold sea shanty..and it talks about lifting the anchor...weigh ho, up and over...so I might be able to squeeek that in..I need 4-5 songs, and I think I will do it sans instrumentation..which would be in keeping of the time...they had tin whistles, stringed instruments(pocket violin???) and the harpsicord..some other wacky wind instruments...sometimes it's fun to sing in the key of me!

Never mind..I gots it! From the research I've done, many of the songs "we" sang were of Irish/Scottish origins..and they are old! So, I can be reasonable sure that people would have at least known them. I will be Amazing Grace. But I don't know if I will begin or end with that piece. Dunno how many verses I will do either..it has 6 verses! Who knew??

2013-01-18 05:05:18 PM
Better do Amazing Grace at the end. It always makes me cry, If I heard it at the beginning I'd be sniffling thru the rest, However Jack the dog loves to sing along with it.

Did you ever consider giving him hushpuppies to help blow out that hairball?

You sir, are a genius! I've seen what those things can do!

It could still come in handy. He hasn't pooped yet. I'm pretty sure the pain meds have something to do with that.
Going to check in with the vet tomorrow if we don't get any 'presents' by morning.

You're right about pain meds slowing down the digestive tract. Can't speak for cats, not being a vet...but as a human that's something you want to get on RIGHT AWAY. The longer the...er...'stuff marked for disposal' sits up there, the harder and drier it gets...and harder to get rid of.
Think of it as giving birth to spiked bricks...

No worries....He presented us with an uber poop today. He's sleeping it off now.

That is what I was thinking...this song was written by a former slave ship captain, who, during a storm, called out to be saved. And his life was never the same after. I believe the words came before the hymn...I think the first published word/music was 1789...yes, it really is that old. And yes, I will use the original words...not the modern ones..

Ferals always have chewed up ears anyway...It would be much more reliable to have the spayed ones wear funny glasses.

That's not the half of it.
John Newton (the songs writer) was probably one of the worst examples of humanity to ever live.
He was hated by his crew almost as much as he was hated by his cargo of slaves.
The law of the sea requires that one *must* attempt to save anyone washed overboard.
When swept overboard during a storm at sea, his crew stuck to the letter of the law, while violating
the spirit of the law.

Rather that a more normal method of rescue.
They *harpooned* him!

Needless to say, his life changed a great deal after that incident.
