Danielle Neal said, "I feel like you've straight-out lied to costumers. I don't care if it's just an inch, it's the moral of the matter that concerns me."

So many "that's what she said" jokes, so little time.

I think it's way worse that the "ham" in the cold cut trio is made out of turkey. Read that again. Something that says "ham" is made out of turkey.

Where did you hear that they keep their meat in water? I worked zt 3 different Subways while I was in HS a freshman in college. We never did that.

HiFiGuy: Whether it is 11" or 12" is really irrelevant. They are not going to add more dough; they're going to stretch the bread. Also, you're going to get the same amount of toppings; the extra inch is not going to add another slice of meat.

/Had Subway today.
//Got the Flatbread, but didn't measure it.

Disagree. What about toppings that aren't slice-based, such as lettuce or sauce? You will end up with less food by some amount. It's an outrage! An outrage, I say!

/not really

Supes: I'd be okay there's some leeway with natural variation to the bread rising... as long as they're within an inch one way or the other I think it's okay. Now if they go down to 10 inches, it's a whole different story.

The same goes for the porn I like.

Everything in the cold cut combo is turkey. Ayone who buys one of those has no taste anyways.

So you're telling me that over 2 billion loaves of bread per year, made out of a dough containing live yeast as a leavening and baked by minimum wage slaves at over 38,000 different locations around the world may not all be exactly the same!? THIS IS AN OUTRAGE!!!! To the lawsuit-mobile!! Let's make a few lawyers fabulously wealthy so we can get a coupon for a free cookie with the purchase of 5 or more "foot"-long subs! Hooray!!

The pans they use to bake the bread are all the same size. If you go late in the day, the bread is drier than when it's fresh. There is shrinkage.

I seriously weep for the human race here in the US.

Of course, no one that eats at Subway apparently knows how bread is made.

That damn piece of dough could be stretch to 18" if they wanted to and then Subway could offer it as a promotional giveaway to please all those "inches" lost over the years.

And NO ONE has mentioned that they aren't measuring it properly anyways. You have to start from the 1" mark.

This.

Meatballs squirt out the end with the horizontal cut.

/And don't even get me started about how I have to stop the farkers from cutting my footlong meatball in half with a knife covered in a disgusting layer of mixed condiments from cutting sandwiches in half.
//At least they tesselate the cheese now

2013-01-17 08:55:42 PM
Subway started sucking when they stopped doing the "V" cut in the bread. Something about that made the sandwich for me. None of the topping would eject out of it while eating.

2013-01-17 08:55:56 PM
Maybe it's me but that sandwich looks like someone slung the bag around several times before they opened it. When I get my sandwich home they never look that squished.

Also, the people complaining about this are farking retards, every last one of them.

2013-01-17 08:55:57 PM
first off, the doh comes frozen off a truck, and like all franchys, everything is done exactly the same way, the doh rises for the exact same amount of time, and in the exact same pans/ little net doh rising thingy.

lastly, this isnt news. every time i go to subway they give me a hard time about adding toppings, I even had some random guy try to tell me he couldnt put any more pickles or olives on my sandwhich. he then tried to lie and said he would get into trouble, (you know, typical childish stuff when you catch someone in a lie).

and, its not just at that subway that, that happened.

you see, when you import work from india and give them a 30k to re train them for whatever trade they claim to be bringing here to canada, what they usually do with that money, is pool it together (because the whole damn family comes here) and buy something like a max store, or a subway, and if theres a lot of them, a wendys or something. then, because there so over populated and incredibly competative and deceitfull, they usually cut corners, skim off the top, screw there employees around for pay, treat them bad. etc.

now before you fark lot call me a racist i want to remind you that in india they will hate on you for being just one shade to dark, and typically the darker you are the poorer and worse your treated.

i know a few good east indians, but every one ive ever worked for, or whoever attained a position of power in a company here in canada, was a complete racist, and took advantage of everything they could, at every opportunity.

five alive yoh.

This, this, this. You may as well skip the cheese, too, since it has no farking flavor.

I have to agree. I don't know how subway has survived this long. They bring nothing to the table.

Yet I eat there at least once every six weeks or so. Never enthusiastically, but more of an "oh, I guess" convenience thing.

Had their breakfast for the first time yesterday. Not too good, won't be trying it again.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that the blogger and perhaps subby have never bought bread that didn't come out of a rectangular pan before.

If they put the same weight of bread to start with and the same amount of fillings, toppings etc... I don't care how farking long it is.

/ that's what she said

Yeah that seems like serious first world problems to me. At least the one here seems to make em full length as near as I can tell without getting all worked up enough to take a tape measure to my sandwich. I just wish I had a choice other than Subway to go to. It's the only sandwich shop in town

Truth is, it starts off 2x4, rough cut. It is then planed and sanded, finishing at 1.5 x 3.5. = bad analogy.

We have a convenience store / gas station that actually has better subs than subway by a wide margin. Made to order right there fresh with bread they've made. I know it sounds stupid. Same store sells those nasty sandwiches and pizza slices that sit under a heater. But the sandwiches are really quite good. Now if you can't beat a gas station on flavor of you sandwich and that's all you do is make sandwiches, perhaps you should try harder.

The Angry Hand of God: From Dictionary.com:

foot·long
[foot-lawng, -long] Show IPA
adjective
1.
approximately one foot in length: Their specialty is footlong hotdogs.
noun
2.
something that is approximately one foot in length.

Anyone who is complaining has never looked up the definition of the actual word.

Their 6-inch subs are actually 5.5 inches. Resume outrage.

...Unless you need to feel better than everyone else by saying that 6 inches doesn't have to be 6 inches too.

2013-01-17 09:04:27 PM
The way I look at it is like this: If the bread isn't as big as advertised, I have a better meat+veg:bread ratio, which is preferable considering how little food Subway employees are allowed to put on their sandwiches without being required to charge extra. And I know this because I have worked for Subway several times in my life and, bar none, it is the worst job in the world (however, it has the most flexible hours out of any place I've worked which was the only reason I worked for them repeatedly).

Trust me, it really shouldn't be considered a bad thing if you're getting less Subway. Oh, but for more fun, order their giant subs. The 3' or 6' ones. The amount of length you'll end up missing on those is actually something worth b*tching about.

2013-01-17 09:04:36 PM
The day I vocally complain about the size of my Subway sandwich and call for a class-action lawsuit is the day I sincerely hope one of you pushes me onto the street and into the path of a speeding metro bus.
