She's looking pretty good for 50, especially in the land of the black plague and horrible starchy food.

It's not the size of the jigsaw puzzle that makes it difficult - it's the picture.

Only $315 shipped, some assembly required

Be hilarious if you managed to sneak in there while she was working on it, steal ONE piece, then leave a ransom note a few months later.
Forward a pic of the piece so she knows you're serious.

My mother got a small puzzle for Christmas that's nothing but a mass of honey bees. Don't think she's in too much of a hurry to work it.

50 years old? That's a hard 50. My guess would have been 70.

My first thought: I bet she also has a ton of cats. After seeing the pristine white couch, the last piece of the puzzle fell into place: OCD.

I wonder if the person who draws these things took a step back after finishing this one and thought 'I am the Michelangelo of tacky bullshiat, my work will adorn the backpacks of 9 year old girls for centuries after my passing"

Probably not, but I would.

This sounds awesome. If I didn't have a wife who has taste in decorations I would totally do this. I'd do a different puzzle of course. That one's ugly.

I'm afraid it would make my obsessive tendencies worse though :/

My first thought was, "Is that a Lisa Frank?" You'd be minding your own business walking down the stationary isle and then *boom* you're in the acid trip dimension of smiling dolphins and purple kittens.

colors don't matter so much. there should be 4-6 patterns. separate all pieces into patterns with colors and find all the edge pieces. my 82 year old colorblind and blind in one eye father is a whiz at them.
he does say 5 minutes to whopner often.

/its a pretty puzzle. Id let my wife put it together and glue it to the wall. It would probably shut her up for a while.

Part of me instinctively thinks it'd be a fun project until I think of what a biatch the sorting must've been like.

I like doing jigsaws when on vacation at my parents sort of thing, but not super hard ones like some people are posting, so they've gotta be big to last me awhile.

We have a puzzle in our basement called "the hardest puzzle in the world". It's a repeating picture of a little leprechaun in rows, with slight variations to each drawing, and the image is repeated on the front AND back of each piece. So you have to figure out which side is "up" then figure out where it goes. I don't think we've ever finished it.

1000 hours seems kind of low for a puzzle of that size.  That means that you are averaging 1 piece every 15 seconds.  Even with a puzzle roughly 2% of the size (500 piece) it takes longer than that to search through the pieces to find what you're looking for.  However long it took though & however silly, congrats to her.  Doing something that big & complicated is an accomplishment.

I'd like to do something like that some day if I ever get the time & space to set it up.  The problem that I've found though is that all of the really big ones either look like unicorn poop or something else equally unappealing.  If I'm going to spend all those hours staring at something it should be something interesting, maybe a collection of naked women, that would be fun to work on.

/convincing Mrs RT to put it up on the wall after it's done might be a problem though

If anything is interested, the r34 of Lisa Frank is very good, if a little bizarre.

Well okay, for people on the happy part of the internet it's very bizarre.

My wife got a 32,000 pc puzzle about a year ago.... It came with a dolly. So far, she has sorted the pieces. We have no area large enough to fit it anyway, so no rush. Seems like it is something like 8' X 20'. Dream big i guess.
