Still, the best liquor I've ever tasted was the rocket fuel (unaged single-malt) from Glenora Distillery in Nova Scotia.

So, you burn the general Texas population - and then kidnap decent, hard-working, patriotic American homosexuals to burn?

I lived in Waco for a while. Decent place.

I have no idea where that Branch Davidian place was. I left there before that happened.

Any of y'all get a chance, you should try Yellow Rose's straight rye whiskey.
Went through the better part of a bottle with the extended family last weekend. Was a very distinct flavour, and went down smoother than I anticipated. A lot like your mother.

Good for Waco; about time they have something going for them other than Kelly Clarkson.

Has anyone had pappy van winkle? Id like to try it but havent bern able to find it

I've been following Balcones for a while now. Still trying to get some in Iowa. I can't really take a day off work to be home to sign for it, so online ordering from a retailer is out.
Specifically, I'm looking for the Brimstone, but would also enjoy the Texas Single Malt. I live very close to the Cedar Ridge Distillery, and also have a great supply of Templeton Rye, if anybody is interested in trade

My girlfriend left town today for a work thing and won't be back until next week. That means within about an hour our place was a mess, my hygiene had gone to hell, and my diet had switched entirely to cheese products that were in the fridge. I can't explain how it happens, especially since we share the cleaning and I do all of the cooking, but here we are. Thanks to this thread I'm now throwing whiskey into the mix. Dammit.

For those that like smokey whisky, be sure and try Balcones Brimstone if you can get hold of it.  They smoke the whisky after it's distilled, and you get an aftertaste that makes you think you just inhaled some smoke.  It's amazing.

I recently tried their Rumble Cask Reserve at a tasting, and am looking forward to getting a few bottles of it.  That was real smooth and flavorful.

I love a good Fark whisk(e)y thread.... You Farkers have given me some great recommendations, and thanks to you my liquor cabinet is at maximum capacity.

I'll toss out some favorites:

Booker's Bourbon
Talisker's Single Malt Scotch
Redbreast 12 y.o. Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey

The last one is my current favorite.

Cool. I've used spent barrels from that distillery for my homebrewing. I've done big imperial stouts, honey porters, DIPAs, and barleywines in their barrels. I now have sour beers in them.

i.imgur.com

I tend to be hot and cold as far as brewing goes, but the imperial stout I did in one of their barrels matched up to some of the best commercial barrel aged stouts I've had. I was super happy with it, and have drank it sparingly. (8 bombers left!)

Americans can always do things better than anyone else. We don't always want to, or know why we should, or even try, but we can.

And that's what makes the USA the greatest country in the history of the world.
