Ok. Thats it. I am tired of hearing about Stanford. Why are they number 3? Why do they have their own blog on ESPN, like they are farking Notre Dame? Why are they getting fluffed harder than a porn star on his tenth shoot of the day?

Texas A&M has quite the team. They are just hard to like.

2013-01-16 03:07:58 PM
Texas A&M is losing its top wide receiver, defensive threat, and offensive tackle. Manziel will be as dynamic as ever, but every good defensive coordinator in the SEC will specifically gameplan for him - and this year has shown that defenses with the right plan and right talent can bottle him up (Florida, LSU, Alabama after the first quarter).

A&M being number one is very ambitious.

They beat the #2 team in the country and poor officiating kept them from beating the # 3 team.

Probably, but their recruiting is going to go through the roof after this season.

As much as I'm sick of hearing about them, Alabama is #1 until they lose two games in a season and are officially out of the national title race. Their schedule next year is easier than it was this year with one exception: they have to travel to College Station.

It'll be interesting how Texas A&M handles the preseason expectations. It's much more difficult once the target is on your back.

And people are somehow forgetting that they had 2 loses this year against less than top teams who totally shiat the bed. AandM are riding a wave after decimating a terrible Oklahoma team who got their asses kicked by ND. This is joy a feat because Oklahoma is Oklahoma.

TCU will have Pachall back, I have a feeling they'll be much better than 18. I don't understand why Texas is that high.

The only really good players TAMU has coming back are Manziel and Jake Matthews. Almost all of the their receivers plus the defensive backfield will be gone.

Alabama (for some reason) usually plays better on the road. The only two games they've lost since 2010 were in Tuscaloosa.

2013-01-16 03:53:23 PM
They lost Swope which hurts, bur Nwatchiwhothefarkcares was never a game changing reciever. Evans is a beast and he was a freshman basketball convert playing his first year of football. He will be even better next year. The only running back they lose is Michael, Malena (Jr) and Trey Williams (Freshman) are still there. The biggest hit will be offensive line and losing Demontre Moore, but with Matthews staying the O Line isn't taking as big a hit, and the secondary couldn't be any worse than they were this year. If the Florida game hadn't been the first game of the year then I don't think they lose to Florida. LSU maybe. Especially if they had a place kicker worth a damn. I still think Alabama is #1, but I don't see how A&M isn't right behind them.

Agreed. Lew Perkins is the worst thing to ever happen to Wichita State since the 1970 crash.

And almost the best thing to ever happen to Kansas. Still pissed Kansas didn't get the book thrown at them by the NCAA...

My quick take:

LSU is ranked too low. They'll work out their offensive woes and finish Top 7 this year.

Why the hell is Northern Illinois ranked? They're not any good. Their athletes look like the haven't seen the inside of a gym. Ever.

Clemson at #8 is way too high. Taj Boyd is gone, as is Deandre Hopkins.

Oregon will likely finish lower than #5 with Chip Kelly moving on.

They beat Oregon and lost to Notre Dame. The end. Blaming officials is what losers do. Unless it's something completely egregious (which it wasn't) and would have definitively changed the outcome (which it wouldn't have as Stanford was down 7), it's a loss, period.

LSU is losing virtually its entire defense and now has depth problems on the OL. They'll lose three games this year again. Boyd is still at Clemson for one more year. Oregon will finish in the top five; their incoming coach is a carbon copy of Kelly from a football standpoint. Northern Illinois definitely shouldn't be ranked.

Neither should Ole Miss, for that matter.

This is even dumber than pre-season rankings.

Nobody knows who is going to sign until signing day. You won't know who is going to red shirt until they don't play. Then there are the in season roster changes caused by injuries and disciplinary suspensions.

The only thing this proves is that football season is too short.

Spring football COULD survive, if only Donald Trump had kept his failing ass out of the USFL.

LSU at 17? I'll grant you that they are losing some good players, but if ole Les is good at one thing (probably the only thing), it's recruiting. He's got a backlog of talent deeper than any team out there (except for QBs).

Now, of course, if Mettenburger can't manage to find some accuracy beyond 10 yards, and let's face it, a blind mortar crew is more accurate than he is, that 17 ranking may be a late season wish.

Yeah, is there a TF thread or something? Given Notre Dame's lame-ass response, this story is getting weirder by the minute.

As some guy I follow on twitter said, it was either him or the girl in the pictures who was in on it. The girl he "met at Stanford" had to match the facebook/twitter profile photos. The fact that the dude who ran the account is behind appears to be a friend of Te'O's is pretty damning.

Given the times he talked about her, he's obviously in on it. The girl in the pictures contacted Deadspin to let them know those pictures were from her FB account. F'ing nuts.

How do you think you'll get away with this?

Of course these rankings have nothing to do with the fact that both the top two teams in their poll play each other in week 3 on CBS. Definitely not done just to hype that game, no sir.

Take the final Top 25 from one year and put them in a different order. Shocker? No! Shocker is the fricking Northwestern Wildcats winning the Rose next year, Oh, yeah.

So a TD during a team's possession in OT, when they are down 7 and need the TD to continue into the 2nd OT, has no effect whatsoever on the outcome of the game? Fascinating!

And they return 9 of 11 starters from one of the top defenses, especially rush defenses, in the country, plus 4 starters from an impressive OL that should only get better. Not saying anything's guaranteed, of course, but given how they ended last year, if they can find a decent RB in their stable (possibly Barry Sanders) to replace Taylor and if Hogan continues to improve and has someone to throw to, this could be an impressive team next year.

No, because A&M didn't almost lose to Mizzou this year.  They handled Mizzou pretty easily from start to finish.
