As someone who ended up in the ER after drinking two energy drinks while dehydrated, I'm getting a kick out of this thread. I should also mention I have high blood pressure and had run out of meds two days earlier. I know, I'm a genius. In any case, I was shaking all over, mentally confused, and my BP was 195/155, pulse reading was 133 at rest. I used to drink those all the time, but never again.

It should go without saying, but, if you have high blood pressure, don't even THINK about drinking those things. Unless having a stroke is your idea of a good time.

my blood pressure is borderline. The 20 mg keeps it where it needs to be for someone at 38, my age.

1) nobody should drink anything but water when dehydrated. anything with caffeine actually takes away some of the benefit. A 20 oz coke would have done the same thing to you if that was your reaction.

2) ginseng is a natural regulator and all the ones I order have it in there. The heart doesn't beat faster.

3) I drink for the benefit of having energy. It takes 10 minutes for the drink to kick in for me. I don't try drinking 3 to make it faster.

Uchiha_Cycliste: I see where you are going with your post, but I must disagree with you.

Honestly, I think the same think. I understand your point. It is valid to an extent. However, I feel that physical dependency is the hallmark of physical addiction. You, and other caffeine aficionados, who experience withdrawal and altered states of being when without caffeine are addicted to it. To me, that's what makes sense. Now, it's not an addiction as strong or damaging as something like meth. It's fairly benign in comparison. But an addiction none the less.

I see your viewpoint. We're in agreement up to a point. However I feel that your line of thinking stops before reaching the end.

So, yes. Let's agree to disagree. I'm content with that.

grinding_journalist: I like you. You can come over to my house and fark my sister.

/you are now both in "legit opinion lavender"
//this list is now 5 people long
///as opposed to "great post alert green"
////that list is even shorter
//I do not get along with my sister

Oh, thank you. I'm flattered. I also will not ask if your sister is hot and to my taste in women. I will however say that much like food at work, free is the best flavor.

/I'm a bit less tactful than our cyclist friend here.
//I'm ok with it.
