People over 75 are mostly on multiple medications, and there are all kinds of foods that will harmfully interact with, or at least negate, the drugs they're taking.

I.e., article (which I didn't bother to read) is stupid.

By the way, anyone who thinks that the thing to do when 75, weak, feeble, and suffering from the onset of dementia, is to start taking hard drugs...knows nothing at all about being 75, weak, feeble, and suffering from the onset of dementia.  I've been only too close to it for the past year.  People in that condition already feel lost and helpless.  The very last thing they want to do is disappear inside a drug-induced fog.  They're trying to maintain their grip on reality, not fling themselves away from it.

Kraftwerk Orange: I tell Mrs. Orange that when I get old, I'm gonna do whatever I want, maybe including a nice heroin addiction.

I don't see why more seniors don't pick up a good hard drug habit.  They've got nothing else going for them.  Most octogenarians end up in a home, or as they are affectionately known in the health care field, "End of Life Facilities."  Go find a building with "Prestige" on the door and take a good long look around.  Get a nice smell of the air.  Spend some time gazing upon what amounts to Human life at the nadir of ability.  See how often their family comes to visit.  Maybe sample some of the food they "get" to eat - although they can't often taste it anyway...

Every single junkie on the planet lives a better life and dies a better death than anyone in those facilities.  It's horrendous.  And it's your future as well, unless you happen to be fabulously wealthy.
