Bill_Wick's_Friend: Headline was so funny I choked on vomit.(not actually my vomit. You can't...y'know.....dust for vomit)
uncleacid: No Viagra, with a sweet woman like that?
The Larch: The quasi-legality of opioids in the United States is absolutely asinine. Just make the stupid things legal, and redirect all of the enforcement money to addiction treatment already.Yes, some additional number of people may become addicted to the drugs, and accidental overdoses of painkillers will continue to be a major health problem. But in a very non-intuitive twist, it turns out that the prohibition of drugs often actually increases the use of that drug, and increases the intensity of that use. It turns out there's no actual evidence for the argument that if it's legal, more people will use it.On the other hand, you wouldn't have idiot kids breaking into houses to search for pain pills, you wouldn't have people turning to street heroin when they can't get pills, and you wouldn't have all of the violence and lawlessness that accompanies the black market for pills.Make it legal, make it a little safer, and spend the money wasted on enforcement on something more useful to society.
