Fine, move it somewhere else. I'm sure plenty of other states would love the prestige and the financial impact.

That the festival hasn't produced anything good since 2004?

Surely Sundance is well known enough now that promotion is hardly necessary.

How many gay cowboy eating pudding indie films will be affected anyway?

It doesn't apply in this particular case, but sometimes it's worth being principled.

If you were the mayor of a small town, and Westboro offered you a million dollars to provide security and space for a rally in your town that would cost you $25,000, would you?

Extreme example, yes, but sometimes the money doesn't matter.

/I am not defending anything described in TFA

It's important to attach a monetary amount to your personal values. That way you'll know exactly how much of a whore you are.

The Sutherland Institute, a public policy think tank that advocates for conservative values, says Sundance doesn't need the financial assistance and that the taxpayer funds could be better used for other programs.

I'll offer you a deal, Conservative Think Group. You can pull ALL state financial funding for Sundance if, at the same time, the state also pulls all funds and tax breaks for ALL businesses entirely.

If the state spends nothing would the film mutal masterbation gathering still be held and would it stil bring in money?

Subby's argument sounds too much like the ones advocating spendign tax dollars on pro sports arenas.

I'd watch that. I like how he was inspired to write it.

--Sigh...--

The Mormon church is supposedly huge on the concept of "Free Will". This is supposed to say that everyone is free to give into temptation and follow the path to Hell. Unfortunately, this doesn't mean that they will actually allow people to exercise free will and decide what movies to attend and not to attend, these asshats want to dictate that FOR us. Color me completely surprised that the Eagle Forum isn't the group of assbags doing this, but Sutherland Institute runs a close second in interference.
