(Townhall)   Townhall: "Limbaugh's dream is Reagan's dream. You can't be against Rush and for Reagan." Ah yes, I fondly recall the famous "It's morning in American, except for the sluts" speech   (townhall.com) divider line 32

I had quite enough of this conversation this morning, modmins.

The Republican Party is desperately in need of some good advice. It needs to return to Ronald Reagan conservatism

In true republican projection-st form, you people worship Reagan as some sort of god (while accusing Obama supporters of the same). Unless you studied history and knew what Reagan's actual policies were, especially with social issues. I'll just leave that for you to discover.

Reagan dreamed of young, oily and sweaty Dominican men?

2013-01-16 02:40:13 PM
Well, yeah, the Reagan that Rush gushes over is the Reagan of his own invention - not the real Reagan. In that way, Townhall is 100% right. You cannot be against Rush and for Rush's Reagan.

Peter von Nostrand: Reagan dreamed of young, oily and sweaty Dominican men?

Dominican boys like jelly beans?

Can I be against them both?

Greenlighting Brent Bozell twice in a day should be a federal crime.

Reagan be with you(and also with you)
Amen.

Reagan would be considered a RINO if he ran today......fark the current GOP and the short bus they rode in on.

Screw the both of them. Reagan's outreach to social/religious(gullible dolts) conservatives spawned Rush.

So Limbaugh now claims to be the reincarnation of Reagan? Sounds pretty cult-y to me.

2013-01-16 04:41:43 PM
So, Limbaugh's in favor of reenacting Reagan's assault rifle ban?

I think Reagan is like a reverse Obama effect for right wingers - in the same way most people are for all the individual parts of Obamacare if you ask about them individually, but hate Obamacare, they probably would be against nearly all of Reagan's policies individually if not presented in a way that makes it obvious it was a Reagan policy (like arming insurgents, doing deals with terrorists for political advantage, weak immigration policy (including amnesties and general blind eye turning to massive influxes of people over the border while the economy was strong, etc.), tax rises, massive jumps in government spending across the board, massive debt accumulation that turned around over 3 decades of consistently paying down the WWII related debt (when compared to GDP anyway), and so on.

Yeah, actual Reagan was a pretty good president who managed to make good use of a bad situation. Weak on domestic policy, but still a pretty solid administrator overall. And he was generally polite, graceful, and willing to deal with even his opponents.

Basically he is as far from Limbaugh as humanly possible.

Limbaugh is getting stranger and stranger these days.  I thought for sure he was gonna cry today.  he sure did seem close to it at one point.

Could you imagine the uproar if Obama dealt with terrorists the way Reagan did? They're a already calling Obama a secret muslim terrorist but if he made deals with them, traded arms with them and formed future terrorist groups like Reagan did? Holy shiat. Obama has terrorist #1 whacked and they're still talking shiat about him. To say nothing about the record debt Reagan put us in, that people are blaming Obama for.

The point is that there is no getting through or reasoning with some people. There's literally nothing that can be done to make that happen.

For both, the dream is of a nice lady to bring them their pills.

I'm starting to wonder how many current right-winger Reagan worshippers were older than 8 during Reagan's presidency.

None of them, if they think St. Ronaldus Magnus was the epitome of neoconservatism they seem to think he is.

You know, the one who:
Made arms deals with Iran
Used to be president of the Screen Actor's Guild
Increased taxes every year from 1981-1987
Invaded a small Caribbean island while ignoring the Marine barracks bombing in Lebanon
Bombed Libya (which the current Republicans decried Obama for--so was that good or bad?)
Signed the Immigration Control and Reform Act--which actually fined BUSINESSES for hiring illegal immigrants (not the immigrants themselves)
Put the first woman on the Supreme Court (Sandra Day O'Connor)

I dunno....he kind of sounds like the guy who's in office right now to me.

Obama never made arms deals with Iran nor did he increase taxes every year of his Presidency.

Well...he DID triple U.S. global arms sales...and he has increased taxes SOME of the years of his Presidency.
