It's too bad that there isn't film out there of the stick that is jammed up far too many people's ass. That way most everyone would be a porn star of some sort (granted of a very limited strange fetish nature...) & they could ignore silly stuff like this. So she was involved in a perfectly legal occupation 5 years ago & now she isn't fit for being around others?

At least she was screwing other adults & not the kids that many teachers seem to these days...

These officials are deliberately perpetuating an educational environment in which porn is frowned upon and and I'd like to know how they justify that. It's as though they don't want kids to grow up and take well paying jobs.

I found it funny that it was never mentioned why the students or teachers were watching porn in the first place. After all, how did they find her picture or video if they weren't surfing porn?

So, what this really says is that it is okay to surf porn, just don't become a porn star.

Thanks California for clarifying that!

I like the part where students tell the administrators about the videos but they cannot find them because the photos are blocked.....so the kids bring up the videos on their phones. If an adult shows a kid porn it's a felony....if the kid shows the adult porn it's a firing?

As the father of a 13 year old, I just decided to let the internet take care of the whole "birds and bees" talk. I made him watch 2 hours of creampie compilations and told him that was how babies were made. Now if you ask him what you do to prevent pregnancy, he says, "blast the load in their face!"

Best kid ever.

continue to impede her from being an effective teacher

Ok that I could see....

and respected colleague

This part is B.S.

Student claims that the teacher was moonlighting as a porn star were initially dismissed after school officials said they couldn't find any images of her on the Internet _ but they were using the school's computers, which don't allow access to porn.

This part is hilarious

Teachers then showed administrators downloads of Halas' sex videos from their smartphones.

And my guess is this is where the real issue was (see "respected colleague" )

I don't know if I could have concentrated on igneous rocks as a 6th grader had I known what my teachers vagina looked like.

Luckily, he was a bald alcoholic 50 something man.

It's just absurd when you think that she hadn't done porn in years. Confirmed by iafd, her name's Tiffany Six. I'd link but I'm at work. Still she's quite good... Anyway...
My point is we're willing to forgive people for (almost) anything today, drug addicts and (most) criminals get second, third, fifteenth chances. She made an honest living in an industry that troubles some (though a lot less than many would like others to believe) and is forced to be tagged with the stigma of it. Sadly the internet never forgets.

Had she been a stripper there'd likely be no evidence of this and it would have settled in as just a rumor. After all, how many rumors like this went around about the "hot" teachers when we were all in school. It's unfortunate that we live in a world where almost everyone has sex, but if there's a recording of it you'll be held back from all but the hottest and noisiest jobs. Unless you're already famous. I know a girl I once attended high school with has been in a couple films, I wonder if it will ever kill her career if someone comes across her online? (pun partially intended)

FTA:

"Although her pornography career has concluded, the ongoing availability of her pornographic materials on the Internet will continue to impede her from being an effective teacher and respected colleague," Cabos-Owen said in the 46-page decision issued Friday by the Commission on Professional Competence.

I understand how kids can and will snicker about her porn career, and masturbate furiously at her expense, but I simply can't understand why her colleagues would giver her trouble or treat her disrespectfully for that. They are adults, and they are expected to be responsible ones. Therefore, they do have an obligation to treat her respectfully, even if she has been at some point the village's poopsmith. If they can't then obviously it shouldn't be the former porn actress that got fired, because she isn't the one failing to meet her obligations.

This is particularly true in today's word, where porn has become so mainstream that the term "hardcore porn" is practically meaningless, "softcore porn" either ceased to exist or became prime time television, and plenty of porn stars also land roles on popular non-porn mainstream TV/movies.

What a ridiculous ruling. This is nothing illegal or unethical, and the notion this undermines her ability to teach is exactly what undermines her ability to teach. Even if the court decided she was no longer able to teach, the district should be held liable for loss of income.

And shes ugly or male and got turned down by Halas.

At the rate that porn is going, is there any attractive girls/women left that aren't in some sort of online porn? Looks like they are all doing it if I was to go with the sheer amount.

"Schwab has said Halas did not star in pornographic movies while teaching in any district. He said she took parts only during an eight-month period from 2005 to 2006 because of financial problems after her boyfriend abandoned her."

So she should have done the moral thing and gone on welfare, right?

This is bullshiat. I had a Civics teacher with involuntary manslaughter on his record and a Psychology teacher that had been arrested for drug trafficking. They were both good teachers that got to keep their jobs. My psych teacher even used his experience as part of his lessons.

"Student claims that the teacher was moonlighting as a porn star were initially dismissed after school officials said they couldn't find any images of her on the Internet _ but they were using the school's computers, which don't allow access to porn."

So we're fine with these people being in charge of our children's education, but not a porn star?

maggoo: but I simply can't understand why her colleagues would giver her trouble or treat her disrespectfully for that.

Teachers faction themselves quite quickly and are constantly pessimistic. Grade levels, resource, subject, etc., partition themselves off from one another, as does faculty from staff. The environment is stressful with service requirements, schoolwide scoring, and student knowledge from previous years causing friction between teachers. Great gulfs exist despite routine interaction because teachers establish ways and procedures, and deviation from this, which would be basically everyone outside the group, is grating. Plus, teachers are predominantly female including up through middle grades, and I apologize because this is sexist but having worked with basically all women for several years I more and more see this, which leads to cattiness and general gossip.

Me, I would have no problem with her as a colleague (Fark jokes aside about working alongside her or similar). She was adult making adult decisions and likely has more than a little understanding for varied lifestyles and past choices.

What a bunch of BS.  She did nothing illegal.  Who gives a damn if it still shows up online.  So she can't have a career after porn?  If that's the case that NO woman that has ever done a sex tape or took nude self-pics will be employable....which means probably half the women under the age of 30 are unemployable.

So if an actor/actress plays a prostitute in a movie, or is in a steamy sex scene in an R rated movie, then decides to become a teacher later, California will say "no, sorry, you made past decisions that we can't accept now"?

Or is it actually seeing the "real thing" taking place on a video screen that's squicking out the school board?

why? cause you think that all the boys, and some of the girls, may be fantasizing about her in some way? NEWSFLASH, if these kids find her attractive they are going to fantasize about her anyways. if one of the kids was going to act out and interrupt her teaching and just be disruptive, he/she would find someway to do it, this would just make it easier for that little bastard.

or does it make you uncomfortable that someone you would be working with used to fark on camera for money and enjoyment? granted i'd be uncomfortable too, just cause it's out of my comfort zone but i'd eventually get used to it

This isn't porn she did when she was 18. She recorded some in 2005 and 2006, presumably during the Summers in between teaching. She mentions she's a teacher in the videos.

Whether or not she should have been fired, this is not the same thing as someone who is trying to escape her distant youthful past.

My son is in college and had to write a term paper for a history class, and the instructor was difficult and a little quirky. To the kid's credit, he googled the prof to find out what his interests were, basically so he could write what the prof wanted to hear.

Turns out the prof worked at a prestigious museum, and stole valuable history artifacts and sold them on the black market. Did serious hard time in a federal prison.

So he gets to be a professor, and this lady can't teach because she had a legal job in her past.
