FTFA ...operating "sham offices" in a suburban Illinois town and "dodging" millions of dollars in state sales taxes.

I don't think they are dodging state sales tax.

I'd love to hear the back room talks about this. United: 'fine, here is your money and we'll be moving our headquarters across the border and pay far less in taxes. Enjoy that 1%..'

The state will either get their asses kicked in court or will cave.

Hey, those bonuses can't all come on the back of raiding company pensions.

United Airlines is going to pull out of O'Hare? You think there's a great shortage of airlines that want space at O'Hare? It has been a few months since I have flown out of there. Last I was there, the airport was pretty busy, maybe things have changed.

When I used to fly a lot for my job I would add a $500 charge for having to go through O'hare.. Out of the 3 times my luggage was lost or didn't make my connection, 2 of them was there.

I am a United platinum flier (did 83K miles last year). United customer service I find pretty reasonable. It's FAR superior to American (although of course not as good as Austrian or the middle east airlines).

You mean some business man outsmarted a gov't bureaucrat to legally avoid paying unfair taxes to the benefit of United Shareholders.

This

Sometimes we forget that corporations aren't these omnipotent entities that exist on their own.  They are owned by people and anything that makes the corporations more money makes the owners more money.

And guess who owns the vast majority of corporate stock?  US (if you have a 401k, congrats, you probably own a bit of almost every S&P 500 company!)
