In unrelated news,

"... median income for a four person household declining to roughly $70,000 in 2010 from about $73,000 in 2001, the report said. The median income for the lower class is $23,000 and about $113,000 for the upper class. The middle class is also giving up more income to the rich. In 2010, the upper income group took in 46% of all income, up from 29% in 1970. The middle income group took in 45% of income, down significantly from 62% in 1970."

Mali? It would be total overkill to take out a terrorist camp with one of these things, but it would make for great video.

So now bombs are "prosecuting" targets?  Since when was ordinance capable of initiating legal procedings?

2013-01-16 10:09:57 AM
Taco bell farts and shiats could bust a bunker up from the inside out--and as a bonus it could be done undetected via the reliable SBD system.

The Bombing of Germany is a fascinating PBS documentary about US bombing strategy entering and exiting World War II.

Curtis LeMay, the guy who wanted to go first strike nuclear war against the Soviets over the Cuban missile crisis, earned his bones by fire-bombing tens of thousands of Tokyo civilians to death in one raid. Incendiaries, non-nuclear.

Ordinance can be very persuasive once it gets going.

Why not just make a 'small' nuclear bomb instead?
At what point is it cost effective anymore to keep making bigger and bigger conventional bombs past the point of diminishing return?

Uh, btw, the pic I posted above was Barnes Wallis, the designer of the first bunker buster bombs that were used to destroy Nazi U-boat pens (along with V-3 cannons, capital ships, viaducts and other hard to destroy targets), the skipping bomb that was used by The Dam Busters to destroy German dams, the bombers that carried the bombs and who knows what else.

He was the guy who turned down cash awards for his wartime inventions by saying "Isn't this the blood of the men who went in jeopardy?"

/His skipping bombs were made of brass

I used to know some engineers who worked for the military. They would spend a year designing a bomb to destroy the latest, most secure bunker. Ship it off to White Sands for testing. If it passed the test, they would move on to the next topic which was designing a bunker to withstand the bomb they had just built.

Lather, rinse, repeat.
