Aw.  I don't watch either of those shows, but I really like Krysten Ritter. Hate seeing that her stuff's failed.

Both are hilarious. Happy Endings is my #1 seed right now.

Wow. They used these shows to fill in the timeslot vacated by "666 Park Avenue".

I hadn't seen her before she showed up on Breaking Bad.  Then I spent a weekend trying to find out if she had done any nude scenes.  Why?  'Cause that's what guys do.

They barely announced it on tv. I only caught the Sunday airings because of the dvr.

ABC has been terrible about promoting the shows. I'm a huge fan of both of them and I didn't even realize that they were airing episodes on Sundays. I only discovered it because my DVR recorded them.

And I still think that Happy Endings is the most subversively progressive show on network television, even if I suspect that people with questionable senses of humor are going to nitpick the "Jane's ex-girlfriend comes to town and Brad gets jealous" storyline from tonight's episode.

2013-01-16 01:11:59 AM
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Both shows are great.  "Happy Endings" is the greatest, however.

2013-01-16 01:20:31 AM
The network said Tuesday that Sunday's planned episodes of Happy Endings and Apt. 23, intended to air at 10 and 10:30 p.m., respectively, will be replaced by an encore of Shark Tank.

fark you and fark everyone who watches Shark Tank.

My girlfriend just got me into Happy Endings (lol) and it's a damn funny show. Way better than the commercials made it look. I got worried from the headline that it's canceled but it's still unfortunate to see it not get good ratings.

...says the guy who only watches it on DVD.

Seconded.

Van Der Beek was hilarious on that show. This is just stupid.

So Happy Endings failed to jump the Shark Tank?

Ay!

2013-01-16 05:09:35 AM
At first I thought they were only showing repeats on Sunday nights and was kind of surprised when I found out they were all new episodes. That's right, ABC, blame the shows for your poor marketing.
(Love "Happy Endings" for things like an out-of-nowhere Tim Russert joke in the kickball episode.)

Is anyone actually reading the article?

Both shows are staying put at Tuesdays until the Dancing results show, which was always the plan. The experiment to put them on Sundays is what failed.

It's only gonna get worse in February, now that the NFL is done and The Mentalist will be steady at 10 pm. They have pretty much nothing to go against it, unless they decide to move Castle there, which would be an incredibly stupid move that only ABC execs would make (for fear of the 18-49 numbers Revolution is pulling, probably).

Because, like CarnySaur said, everyone who knew about the extra eps thought they were repeats.

This is true. I was surprised to see 2 episodes of each this morning when I checked my DVR. I did not know they were being run on Sundays.

Good job ABC, waste new episodes of still-building shows on Sunday nights. Then, don't tell anybody.

"Happy Endings" is a seriously underrated sitcom -- great writing, a unique mix of plausible and surreal plots pulled off very well by an excellent cast.
"Don't Trust the B" has highs and lows but Krysten Ritter is fantastic in the role (as well as screamingly hot) and, I never, ever thought I'd say this, James Van Der Beek is a friggin' riot. He kills in every scene.

It was disappointing to see ABC burning off out-of-sequence episodes in such an odd timeslot. Hopefully the shows can maintain enough of an audience to survive another season.

Firstly I have loved Happy Endings since the beginning. But I am seeing a disturbing pattern where it is starting to get stale, mind you it has only been recently but I am afraid that it will start happening more often. Kind of like Community was the last season. I may be the only one but I found there was too many "theme" based shows
With that said I loved Janes Ex and Brad's reaction.

I'd pay extra for the 'Happy Ending'.

So changing a show's air night completely wrecked the ratings? This has never happened before, why would anyone consider it a bad idea?

If the show creators were able to end the series with an appearance by Jesse and Heisenberg, it may be the most meta- moment in television history since Abed cameoed on Cougar Town.

I too only knew about the Sunday airings due to my DVR.
Both shows are excellent, but they seem more edgy than what ABC would normally show.
I suspect this along w/ poor advertisement play large roles in their lack of ratings.

They're still in their regular slots as well. You'd think that giving a show two weekly slots meant that it was doing well, but I guess not.

I'm hoping Happy Endings doesn't get canned. It's only the middle of the 3rd season, and it's still damn hilarious.

...yanks....Happy Endings....

1. Funny that someone mentions Happy Endings and Community together, as tons of the writers and producers on Happy Endings worked on earlier seasons of Community. When I first started watching HE more regularly, and watched the credits, it was like someone put the credits for Community during the wrong show or something.

2. The article states that the two shows hit their all-time low for ratings THIS Sunday? Huh- imagine that- losing out to THE GOLDEN GLOBES. Maybe they should run it against the Super Bowl or something? Or maybe do what Fox did with Arrested Development and burn off the last 4 episodes the same night as the Olympic Opening Ceremonies and then be shocked when ratings were down.

3. Apt 23 isn't on OnDemand. WTF?

4. I'm more prone to be attracted to Chloe, but holy cow Dreama...and that is after I drool over Jane for a half hour...

I've said too much...

ABC promoted the crap out of "Once Upon a Time" and "Revenge" around the holidays, to remind people they were coming back. The pacing of the promos would have also included "666 Park Avenue", but since that was shelved, they squeezed the "Rule of Three" into two shows.

The two comedies definitely did not fit well with those shows as lead-ins and it wouldn't be a stretch that they would be considered filler reruns.

/when is "Compliance' coming out on Netflix/Bluray?
