This show has a great marketing department. And I'm really happy that I can now go from "I heard some people talking about it on Fark, so I should check _________ out" to "I now suspect every book, music, or film recommendation I read to be a paid advertisement".

Was it Bill Hicks who said "if you are in advertising, kill yourself"?

Do you think so (being genuine)? I was introduced, reluctantly I might add, to the show by a friend between season 2 & 3. I think a lot of people have caught on in a similar manner and time period due to it being on Netflix (I think?) and having a few seasons to plow through, and people are just excited to see season 4. In my case y gf and I are even planning our evening around it. Then again, I do have adblock, but I haven't seen many TV ads for it either.

I really enjoy the show, but hate the fans.

Anytime Archer is brought up it's just...

LOL BABOU!
LOL DANGER ZONE!
LOL LANA! LANA! LAAAANNNNAAA!

So many brilliant references in this show but people just regurgitate the same few bits.

I imagine that a fair amount of the publicity is a product of genuine fan interest; as far as FX pushing it I've seen one sidebar, these shorts and a trailer (and I only found out about the trailer because of yesterday's thread about Netflix getting more cartoons).

Ironically if this is their marketing department then their promotional skills far outstrip FX's willingness to deliver a product. FX in the UK will not be showing the fourth series season of Archer on 17th January, in fact, I can't find any information about when it will be releasing it in the UK at all.

However, they have managed to find the space in their schedule to show four farking hours of Seth McFarlane cartoons this Thursday, so that's nice.

How the hell does this show get sucked off by those who consider themselves "hip" when one of its most repeated jokes is a reference to a goddamn cheesy '80s action flick? It's 20-goddamn-13, people, why are we still making fun of "Top Gun" like it's a current thing? The movie was released almost 27 goddamn years ago, you would think that all the comedic riffing on it would have dried up years ago. Anyway, it's not so much the joke that irritates me, it's that people repeat it over and over on the Internet like it's the most brilliant thing ever. Goddamn it.

Yeah, I'm not unblocking a goddamn thing until the mobile ads stop oh-so-conveniently covering my controls for switching tabs on my mobile browser. Or when they make the button for "myFark" on mobile a little bigger so I don't end up clicking on some shiatty ad by mistake.

I caught one of the live shows they did about a week and a half ago, and it was awesome. It's amazing how much on screen chemistry the actors have given that they all record their parts separately. And Amber Nash was surprisingly cute.
I was bummed that Jessica Walter and Judy Greer weren't there, but I assume they stayed in LA for Arrested Development filming.
