The FSAI said the retailers stated that they were removing all implicated batches of the burgers.
A total of 27 products were analysed, with 10 of them containing horse DNA and 23 containing pig DNA.

Finally, hamburgers with actual ham.

That's what Jackie Kennedy's French chef did. Pissed off that Jackie put catsup on his fine French cooking, he one day served her horsemeat. Which she put ketchup on, and proceeded to enjoy.

Pretty sure none of these burgers would have been advertised as halal or kosher, but very not cool kids.

*checks tesco*

Ingredients
Beef (99.2%),Sea Salt ,Cracked Black Pepper

nothing about either, just that it's not currently available.

And the labeled fish you bought is most likely not the fish you are eating.

Good times, good times.

At least horses are ruminant, there's some solace in that I guess.  Use the whole animal and all that jazz, they're not just for glue anymore.

Horse meat is really good.

I'd pay extra for horse burgers.

Is there such a thing as mad horse disease? And wouldn't it be funny if the horses at the next Kentucky Derby went crazy and started eating people?

A while back, the kiddos and I were interacting with a baby tiger.  The handler brought out a dish of meat for us to feed her.  I asked what it was, and she answered that it was horse.  Both kids looked at her, kind of shrugged, and went right on grabbing pieces of it to feed the tiger kitten.

In the States they often used horse as zoo food because horse bodies need disposal when they're euthanized healthy, but there were laws against selling it as people food.

So all the Zoopreem diets were horse based.

I've had horse a few times in eastern Europe.  I think we're making a big mistake not serving it here, because its pretty damn good.

I was in a Mexican restaurant the other day that had shark meat in some of its dishes. I didn't even know you could serve shark in the US.

What's the big deal about horse meat? I hear its as good as any other meat. Why not eat it, except that we usually don't.

So they'll eat blood pudding and sheep intestines, but they won't eat horse. Got it!

It says there that it is unacceptable. Nah, I do not think it is. Horsemeat is edible and horses eat only grass. Pork is a lot dirtier because pigs devour rubbish.

If the only person that noticed was the government then it does not really matter.
If it tastes good and it is not bad for you then what is the problem?

Horse is good. fark load better than goat. No idea how you nasty motherfarkers eat goat.

But that shiat is expensive!

That explains a lot. There's a local restaurant that offers a limited number of their "world famous" burgers a few nights a week and I noticed that the waitstaff describe it as "8 to 10 ounces of ground meat". It seemed suspicious that they didn't specify what animal it comes from but now it makes sense. Oh, well. It tastes great.

Why would anybody expect ground meat to be "pure"?

If you keep kosher/halal or are icked out by the thought of "odd" meat just avoid it all, otherwise figure it's another mystery like hot dogs.

Arbitrary.
