Good, now I won't have to deal with 5 jackoffs on the other team spitting on their hands

As they should. Sportsmanship has no place in little league.

Considering that soccer is technically a contact sport, this is retarded. But then again, so is everything that New York has been doing lately. They are vying for the title of the new Florida. If they were smart, they would allow only 7 high-fives a game, not 10. Those extra three could be devastating.

We stopped shaking hands after sparring in Tae Kwon Do to ensure we do not pass it around. I understand it and really - its not a bad idea.

I don't see a problem with that. It's not a bad idea.

The Angry Hand of God: [derp derp derp]

Anyway....

I guess it makes some level of sense on the surface since you lose that direct contact, but considering these kids are all using the same bats and sharing a ball, doesn't it sort of negate the point to some extent?

I've been sick, on and off, since October 20th. Every time I feel better, I go out and it's usually with some friend who's decided he or she is tired of being cooped up with their cold or flu and coughs all over my hands. Then, I get sick again. Now, I'm at the point where I have to ask if they are sick or not. Really, guys, when you get sick, stay the hell home. It's not that hard. I had the flu for two weeks, then bronchitis for three weeks, then asthma for two weeks and was on the phone regularly with the doc asking "Am I contagious at this point?" Not a single person got sick from me, including my officemates.

Stay the hell home!

Remember Folks! The FARK Doctors of Epidemiology would like you to know that this is totally being overblown for Big Pharma Profits, and the Flu is just a harmless two day infection!

You should go to a doctor. I think your immune system may need a reboot as it obviously is not working...

Aren't you constantly touching and breathing all over each other during the sparring though? Eliminating handshakes seems like a useless gesture.

Yet you continue to spar with each other. I am betting there is a lot of physical contact and sweat. Mats probably that are rarely if ever cleaned?

why not just require the kids to get flu shots?

I really wish I didn't have to fly from the West Coast to Milwaukee this week. If I can make it without a hospital visit in the next month I'll feel invincible.

So how much more serious is this year's flu than last year? Or the year before? I remember reading something that said we haven't seen anything like this in ten years....but I don't remember any Captain Trips paranoia 10 years ago.

Admittedly I have a shiatty memory and generally don't pay much attention to the news but I'd think I would remember some OMFG we're gonna die!11!! flu pan-scari-demic

This is why I've always been an advocate of the no-contact high-five as demonstrated by Rob Schneider in Demolition Man.

The flu is always serious, people just tend not to take it as such until someone they love lands in the ER. Or the cemetery.

You should try washing your hands the next time they're coughed all over instead of sticking them in your face.

Because autism is worse than the flu?

Anyhoo, I had the flu for a week and am now at the end of a week of bronchitus.

This crap is really getting old and is severly cutting into my smoking and drinking time.

2013-01-15 08:30:48 PM
Surprisingly we do now have much sweat being thrown around (at least from others, I throw it around like a wet mop). Mats have been cleaned over and over after every class and typically, we are not getting thrown to the ground (I cannot say the same thing about Hapkido though). In regards to the contact aspect of it...you probably right. Although, soon after I leave practice...I am in a shower. Anything really helps as this flu is a biatch.

Probibly because everyone realized that they were clogging up the ERs, filling up hospital beds that could have been used for patients with non-vaccinatable diseases, and costing taxpayers, employers and the medical industry tens of billions of dollars each flu season for medical bills and downtime.

I don't participate in many high-five's, but I do wash my hands or use hand sanitizer after touching public/communal things such as the keypads of debit card swipers at the 7/11 (ew) and carts in a grocery store. Basically after touching anything that gets touched by 200 other coughing phlemy non-bathing people per hour, 24 hours a day. Including your mom. (Didn't really want to go there, but had to say that preemptively, otherwise someone else certainly would.)

They're typically one in the same. The reasons for not getting a flu shot are usually either grounded in complete ignorance and misinformation, or amount to laziness and the belief that "it won't happen to me!".

Very few people are legitimately unable to get it, and you're a doubly selfish prick for putting THEM in danger.

If you think the vaccine protects you then get it and we anti-vax people won't matter to you. The CDC says it's only 62 percent affective. How is that my fault? You are easily frightened for someone who lets people inject mercury into you.
