30 die a day from drunk drivers? I don't care if that is the CDC, that's bullshiat. From what I have read, when they tally these numbers, it includes ANYBODY involved in the crash (driver or not) who had any alcohol in the previous 24 hours. MADD used to claim some even more ridiculous number, that would have meant everybody in America would have been killed by a drunk driver in ten years.

DUI is a revenue stream for lawyers and judges, period. If anybody gave a crap about your safety on the road, they wouldn't allow themselves to be shouted down by the AARP whenever mandatory testing for elderly drivers is suggested.

"I asked myself, 'What are the biggest problems facing this country?' To me, drunk driving is one of the biggest and most outrageous; over 10,000 deaths a year in the U.S. caused by drunk driving and several hundred thousands of injuries"

really? drunk driving is the biggest problem facing this country? I didn't even know it was an issue.

/ prepared to get lambasted by fark for not being sensitive to the dead people in their families.
// you want to fix the problem, make better public transportation that runs late at night. provide more 'free-rides', make taxis cheaper (perhaps decrease the costs of a taxi driver from getting his taxi license, or something)
/// drunk driving is like pot. people are going to do it no matter how illegal it gets. you want them to do something else, make something else more accessible.
