I bet subby is the owner of said establishment. Hero tag?

More of an anarcho-minimalist really.

Easiest tax to avoid, EVAR!

2013-01-15 01:32:54 PM
I'm sure the Heritage Foundation will spend that money wisel....

wait.  It's three bucks?!?
 These people are freakin' weird.

2013-01-15 01:33:52 PM
Yep, Burnett, the diehard supporter of domestic energy and longtime health food fan, charges those who identify themselves as liberals one dollar more for their drinks. The money, along with any tips received, is donated to conservative causes like The Heritage Foundation.

You mean the guys that invented the individual mandate?  I guess the extra charge is appropriate then, but not for the reason he thinks.

2013-01-15 01:37:29 PM
If you read the original article about this guy, he sounds like some dude who's just found several successful ways to bilk rednecks out of their money during trying economic times in his area by appealing to their hatred of libruls and Zer0bammy. Good for him.

It's not like you're actually going to get these fatasses into a juice bar touting the health benefits of spirulina and wheatgrass. But if you trick them into it by making them think they're "sticking it to the homocrats," that's just good business.

2013-01-15 01:38:14 PM
I wouldn't care so much about the surcharge as the picture of the oil derrick next to the smoothie I would otherwise be drinking.

2013-01-15 01:40:07 PM
If only he had to pay more for "liberal" things like taxes, which he isn't.

2013-01-15 01:42:00 PM
You see because there are only two sides to any issue: the conservative side and  everyone else which is liberal.

2013-01-15 01:47:17 PM
Burnett said his goal isn't to offend. First, it's to provide people with a healthy product. Second, it's to start a conversation about what he sees as the over-regulation of the energy industry and the continued financial problems facing the United States

A healthy product and concern about regulations for the energy industry.

Interesting. Do go on...

Wonder who he'll blame when he goes out of business?

I know the answer.

2013-01-15 01:55:04 PM
I wonder how he'll feel about the discrimination lawsuit that someone brings up against him when they do a little research, figure out that 'liberal' usually equals 'black, hispanic, native american, or poor', and hit him with a suit they may not win but he still has to pay for? Especially when they talk the ACLU into footing the bill?

Who will care enough to sue?  It sounds like darkest redneckistan.

Since contributions to political groups are not tax deductible, I sure hope the asshole is paying taxes on each extra dollar he collects from liberals (whether he actually donates them to the Heritage Foundation or not), given than those dollars constitute gross income to him for tax purposes.

So, if he's following the law, he has to pay the evil federal gubbamint a certain amount (whatever his tax bracket is--let's assume it's 25%) out of his own pocket.  The flow of funds should work out like this:

Evil librul pays $1 surcharge
|
|
\/
Patriotic 'Merican business owner gets $1 more gross taxable income
|
|
\/
Patriotic 'Merican business owner gives $1 to Heritage Foundation, gets no tax deduction
|
|
\/
Patriotic 'Merican business owner pays $0.25 in tax on the $1 of gross income
|
|
\/
Patriotic 'Merican business owner has collected $1 from Evil Librul, but pays out $1.25, for 25% loss
Not really the most brilliant business model, and results in him paying extra taxes based on income that isn't even his.  I'm not sure he thought his cunning plan all the way through.

Only white people eat health food.

The free market right?

Really what I'm focused on is the fiscal differences between big government/small government and liberal ways anyone who doesn't agree with my brand of whack-jobbery, as far as entitlements and spending.

Some people will go hundreds of miles out of their way to sue. All it takes is one person with a chip on their shoulder, money, and time to burn.

Burnett said his goal isn't to offend...

...his goal is too be a whiny, petulant douchebag, and get free advertisement so other whiny, petulant douchebags will come and buy a smoothie to go with their bag of Chick-fil-A

Mission Accomplished!  Congratulations, Great American!

I get that you want to call attention to an issue you feel is important, but how does this make sense? "I don't approve of energy policy, so Liberals pay more because liberals like to take money from people?"

That makes him evil, not good businessman.

2013-01-15 02:29:18 PM
If I had the inclination and the capital, I'd open 2 smoothie stores next door to him that will give away smoothies for free.

2013-01-15 02:35:37 PM
So he's a dumbass. And what he's doing may be illegal.

Hero, indeed.

2013-01-15 02:40:07 PM
The nice part is that people know to shun him.
He is vocal about who he is and what he supports and therefore TRIVIAL to avoid!!

"Conservatives" have a pretty low threshold.

Looks like good business sense to me.  He got some free advertising and gets to have laughs on liberals all at the same time.  And he'll be getting a lot of conservative customers going there, which means it'll be a safe place for people to take their children.

Fortunately it won't be difficult for me to avoid going to Vernal, Utah.

I find myself there once every year, about the third week of March. Really puts a spring in my step.

With some basic safe-sex practices, it's pretty easy to avoid Venereal, in Utah or anywhere else.

But you're a liberal, so you have neither.

Also, forgot to add. I have neither qualities as well.

If I were to ever go there I would get my drinks the Republican way so they knew I was a true patriot. I'd find someone from China and take him/her with me. I'd ask them for the $1 surcharge with the promise I'll pay it back with interest (assuming I decided to pay my bills that month)

SkinnyHead: Looks like good business sense to me.

My point is made.

2013-01-15 03:12:13 PM
So if a liberal opened a business like this and made conservatives pay more, that would be OK, right?

/warning: comments on this place's Facebook page will lower IQ

2013-01-15 03:12:16 PM
It's freaking Vernal. Nothing there but old dinosaurs.

2013-01-15 03:13:11 PM
Why's he doin' bidness with Libruls at all? He should kick those traiterous scumbags out into the gutter where they belong, and beat the shiat out of 'um too!

2013-01-15 03:13:38 PM
I can only assume that for the last four years, liberals have been getting a discount because of Obama's payroll tax holiday that just expired.

2013-01-15 03:13:58 PM
Next up: The going out of business tax!

2013-01-15 03:14:12 PM
I wouldn't mind paying extra, but he's going to give the money to the heritage foundation, he can fark right off.

2013-01-15 03:15:00 PM
The good news is that you then don't have to tip anything but that one dollar.

2013-01-15 03:15:08 PM
Now liberals can know how liberal states feel having to directly financially support a deadbeat conservative.

Yeah, something tells me the conservative price has a rather large mark up to begin with. Now dullards go in thinking they're getting a bargain for being conservative.

2013-01-15 03:16:23 PM
Cry more, buddy. The widespread butthurt by jerks like this keeps me drinking delicious conservative tears.

This is Vernal we're talking about. Probably 95% Mormon, and I'm willing to bet that conservatives outnumber liberals maybe 7 to 1.

Yeah, this guy is an hero. Very brave indeed. Way to put your neck out there. You and Rosa Parks, buddy.

Dickless.

delicious bucketfuls of spite.

Is there any logic or lesson to this other then "heh heh, make those liberals pay more"? A metaphor?
