FTFA: Storming towards the players as the buzzer sounded for Saturday's stunning 84-76 win for North Carolina State over No.1 Duke in Raleigh

Duke sucks. This basketball player, though, does not.

2013-01-15 01:21:24 PM
Leslie, 21, pushed his way through the mass of jumping bodies, saying, 'Get back, get back,' before he reached Privette, 21, who is study communications at North Carolina State.

Which evidently the copywriter did not.

FALSE. This is all bullshiat that NC State is putting out. How about we talk about their shiathead fans who nearly killed the kid. Lets also talk about what a dumb shiat you have to be to rush the court in a wheelchair. Lets also talk about the other dumbshiats who rushed the court even though they were ranked in the top 25.

shiat.

What part is false? Did the basketball player not pick the kid up and make sure he was ok?

What a douche. Everybody knows that people in wheelchairs have no souls. He probably just saved a baby-raper.

Or, as we like to call it, 'whiny poseurs who had neither the grades nor the class to go to Duke, but who like to pretend like they did anyway'. I know several Wake grads. They work at the local wine bar, the local ice cream shop, and as a paralegal in my law firm, respectively. All the State grads I know are pulling down $100k+ a year in real jobs.

But you keep humping that chicken. I'm sure it makes you feel better about being that school in the ACC that everyone always forgets about.

Dear Penthouse,

I never thought this could happen to me, but I was in the middle of an on-court celebration after my team beat a higher ranked rival, when I suddenly felt someone weakly tugging on my uniform shorts. There were so many people screaming and dancing tightly together that I could only get a glimpse of the young nerd with the full, supple lips lying on the ground. My dream had come true!

I also think it's kinda silly. You're a really good team that was ranked in the top 6 of the country coming into the year, after a run to the Sweet Sixteen. You beat a conference opponent at home early in your conference schedule and you feel the need to rush the court? It's not like this was big upset or a program changing win. And it's not like the game was in doubt until the final few seconds. A standing ovation would suffice there.

Court rushing has become almost as overused as the gatorade bath.

Crowds lose their brains and act in frenzies. This isn't a freaking surprise. It's human history. The kid in the wheelchair might not have acted in his best interest, but then things quickly got out of hand: hey, join the celebration! Whoa! This is a bit too much!

Doubt he would have been badly hurt, but he would have been trampled and felt kind of like an idiot for wanting to celebrate with his fellow fans.

The real story is that Leslie's pretty awesome for helping the guy out.

I agree. Rushing against a hated, hated rival who is ranked #1 is borderline, if your team is also supposed to be very good.

I'm an Indiana alumn and the court rush after the Christian Watford shot to beat Kentucky last year might have been pushing it, but was the mad expelling of pent-up energy after years of shame and frustration. Yet there was still a lot of debate about it: act like you've been there.

NC State's tournament record since 1991: 7-6, with two Sweet 16 appearances.

Their last Elite 8 appearance was 1986, their last ACC Tournament Championship was in 1987, their last regular season title was 1989.

I don't say any of this to belittle their program. They have a rich history under Case, Sloan, and Valvano. But Peter Golenbock made a pretty penny on a whole lot of nothing and the NCAA for some reason got a stick up its ass about what were clearly not major violations - and Wolfpack basketball was gutted for a decade because of that. Hell, they used to call the Thursday night Tournament play-in game the Les Robin Invitational. And Herb Sendek FINALLY got them back on track, but for some idiotic reason a vocal but ignorant faction of the fanbase ran him out of town, and they went right back to being in the cellar under Sidney Lowe. They're extremely lucky to have Mark Gottfried, and the younger State fans I know fully realize that their program is finally back on track.

So I'm not going to take anything away from them. This weekend was a huge win for them, and they celebrated accordingly. They knocked off a #1 Duke team, and I don't care if Ryan Kelly was out. State fans deserved that celebration, and Will Privette himself said it was the dumbest decision he's made in college...but he also said he doesn't regret it. He has the luxury to say that because he didn't get hurt, and that's always a worry with crowds storming the floor. But for Valvano's sake, this is a good story, it was a very classy move on Calvin's/CJ's part, and I can't wait to see NC State try and knock that Tournament Trophy out of the Rat King's hands in March. And people like this:
