Speaking of recipes, I went looking for a recipe of "The Loaf," commonly-served prison food, to no avail. From what I recall, a meal of that would make many pray for death.

Lebowsky,

Acording to the system set up in our country, Vengence ISN'T what the state is supposed to do. You might want to read the Orestia... you might learn a little about the role of government.

King of The Hill did this last meal theme the other day, didn't they? I usually get fed up with the show about seven minutes in, and change the channel, but didn't Dale, Bill, Boomhaur, and Khan have this info?

for those who think what some of these inmates are innocent read what they did.

one guy beat his 10 month old son to death, the doctors later relized he had 10 bones because he wasn't his son. another beat a 94 year old women's head in to the street curb. these guys are sick

these prisoners are killers and deserve what they get.

Yay! I found a recipe for "The Loaf!" Behold the best our criminal justice system has to offer:

Special Management Meal
Yield - Three Loaves

6 slices whole wheat bread, finely chopped
4 ounces imitation cheddar cheese, finely grated
4 ounces raw carrots, finely grated
12 ounces spinach, canned, drained
2 cups dried Great Northern Beans, soaked,
cooked and drained
4 tablespoons vegetable oil
6 ounces potato flakes, dehydrated
6 ounces tomato paste
8 ounces powdered skim milk
4 ounces raisins

Mix all ingredients in a 12-quart mixing bowl. Make sure all wet items are drained. Mix until stiff, just moist enough to spread. Form three loaves in glazed bread pans. Place loaf pans in the oven on a sheet pan filled with water, to keep the bottom of the loaves from burning. Bake at 325 degrees in a convection oven for approximately 45 minutes. The loaf will start to pull away from the sides of the bread pan when done.

"Acording to the system set up in our country, Vengence ISN'T what the state is supposed to do. You might want to read the Orestia... you might learn a little about the role of government."

Thats bullshiat. We may couch it in terms that make it more palatable, but vengeance is what it's all about.

Also cut out the condescending unsolicited advice thing.

2003-12-12 11:26:25 AM
Lebowsky,

well, then we should drop all the bullshiate and just start cutting shoplifter's hands off. How do YOU feel about castration for all adulterers?

Ok, perhaps you shouldn't read the Orestia. Sorry. But it IS a good look at how society should be above petty vengence feuds.

I oppose the death penalty for economic reasons. It's more expensive to kill someone than it is to detain them for the rest of their life after you add in appeals, etc.

Now, putting someone in an all-white, soundproof, room with no windows or outside human contact except for a tray of food sliding under the door three times a day?

Now that's my kind of punishment!

"We hereby sentence you to be locked in an all-white room, all but forgotten by the rest of humanity for the rest of your days until you go insane and gouge out your own eyes and bite your own tongue off......"

In every realm or field where humans have made efforts or strived, mistakes have been made. The smartest doctors misdiagnose their patients, the most experienced general makes poor decisions, the best basketball coach calls the wrong play, etc. No field goes untouched.

Yet SOMEHOW, people manage to believe that the criminal justice system, where facts and sentences are decided by 12 quasi-RANDOM individuals from the community, led by LAWYERS who, by design, have every incentive to manipulate and deceive those jurors, can find, "beyond a reasonable doubt," that a person is guilty AND be right ALL THE TIME. Or, if not that, at least magically, in death penalty cases, the jury is right all the time. Bush Jr. said when he was Governor of Texas, he was sure that all the people (200 some inmates i think) that were executed on his watch were guilty. GIVE ME A FCUKING BREAK.

We've killed innocent people, AND they were ABSOLUTELY preventable deaths. Think about it.

2003-12-12 11:46:37 AM
indeed.

Err...horsemen.

Jim Varney's dead? When the fark did this happen?

Wittgenstein'sPoker Ever since the death penalty was reinstated there has only been a total of 313 executed. Bush was in office for 6 years and from 1994 to 2000. Now think about this how long to appeals and all that take, years right? Bush just happened to come into office when all of the inmates on death rows could no longer put off thier deaths. Also because of the way the death sentence is used in Texas it is less likley that an innocent man will be executed.

2003-12-12 12:02:25 PM
Wittgenstein'sPoker

when I started reading your post, I thought you were going to use the "everybody messes up" argument to justify the execution of innocent people. Good save at the end.

And I agree. It's almost certain that some of those who are executed are innocent, which, in my opinion, is the most apalling thing I can think of at the moment. We really do need to abolish the death penalty.

A lifetime in federal pound-me-in-the-ass prison should be sufficient punishment for murderers and rapists.

I wouldn't be able to eat anything. I'M ABOUT TO FRICKIN DIE!!!

damn, that list made me hungry.

Dammit I used to love going to that site when I was in college...you can still look up who is slated for execution next, though. The last words are great and sometimes reading the offences these guys committed makes you wonder if this "death penalty" thing isn't as nutty as I think it is...

2003-12-12 12:09:24 PM
If we were to get rid of the death sentence then we need something else and I had a thought. Some of you might not know this but back a long time ago alot of prisons were self sufficint. Very little tax money was spent on some of these prisons as the prisoners grew thier own food, and provided thier own water and maintanence.

2003-12-12 12:18:04 PM
we need one of those prisons built on a man-made island a la "Face/Off"

also, give them robotic boots so we can control where they go.

One inmate also asked for "a cheap cigar and a match," Lyons said. "The cheap cigar is not going to happen because we have a no-tobacco policy."

What? Afraid it'll reduce his life-expectancy?

2003-12-12 12:22:45 PM
That's weird, I was just wondering a few days ago why there was a last meal. Does anyone know the real answer?

msubizkit4:

Because in this fat bastard Western society, food is all that truly matters. No last fark, no last smoke, no last hugging your kids. Nope. Just shovel food down.

2003-12-12 12:36:09 PM
Echo....

2003-12-12 12:42:28 PM
Why are we even bothering to feed these asshats? If they want food the night before their execution then they should get the same thing everyone else in prison gets that night. Nothing more, nothing less.

2003-12-12 12:52:28 PM
The cigar thing is really sad. He didn't even ask for an expensive one, ferchrissakes.

2003-12-12 12:53:46 PM
OsirisOTheDead I'm all for last hugs, last farks, last anything they goddamn want. If we're gonna kill *some* innocent ones with all the rest, why not give 'em one last day with their family. Isn't killing 'em enough?

Oh, BTW IF (BIG IF) we continue with the death penalty, I agree we ought to just put them out with standard anesthesia, harvest all of their organs, then just turn off the heart/lung machine. I think the death penalty is wrong, but if we have to have it, let's save some lives whil we're at it. Of course, Niven's law will eventually catch up, but that's for another time :)

2003-12-12 12:57:02 PM
fark these people. Read their last words and look at their crimes.

Hardly any of these pieces of shiat apologized for what they did to their victim. Sure some apologized to their mom, friends, family, people they disappointed.

fark em. Most seemed to be in touch with god. Send them their faster.

2003-12-12 01:01:09 PM
Hmm. Wonder why some of these people request diet coke with their last meal. They obviously don't have to worry about their weight...

It's a matter of taste. One you get used to drinking diet stuff, the regular stuff is way too sugary tasting.

BTW, why do we allow last rites for these guys, don't we want them to go to hell?

2003-12-12 01:06:28 PM
WTF?!!!! My g/f (farkette vinylrose) has an ex on death row out there and we were wanting to know what the biatch was gonna get before they kill him. You know, for future reference...to tell the kids... no not really, that's still one of those "what the hell are we gonna tell them when they're old enough and ask about him" things.

One of those conceptual fathers, but thanks to the glory of google image search she found him on death row when the twins were 3.

Distasteful? Who really cares, the penpal site where he's loading a bunch of bullshiat as to who he is leaves a bad enough taste in my mouth. Nobody who ever knew him can read his desciption without a questioning look and some laughter. Steven Woods if you're bored.

2003-12-12 01:07:05 PM
Oh, and it is NOT very civilized to put your own citizens to death... Hopefully the U.S will join the rest of the civilized world in 20 years or so....

2003-12-12 01:07:48 PM
I represent death row inmates on their appeals. So argue about this all you want, but I'm the one who will sit there and make sure they get their last meal, and be with them up to the second until they die.

Not to many prosecutors attend executions by the way. Don't have the balls.

(And I'm not wasting taxpayer time by farking---I'm on my lunch break)

2003-12-12 01:08:25 PM
I want whisker biscuit for my last meal.

2003-12-12 01:09:23 PM
make that "too"

It's been a long week.

2003-12-12 01:11:29 PM
humans are animals of habits and rituals
rules and regulations
and there is no room left for common sense

this is why an arm is swabbed with disenfectant before putting the IV into the person being executed
and not allowing someone a final cigar because of the 'no smoking' policy

2003-12-12 01:14:19 PM
And those of you who think the system is perfect, or it doesn't matter if there are a couple cases out there where the wrong person was sent to prison--I have some people for you to talk to.

There were two inmates released in Ohio this year after 27, yes 27, years in prison for a crime they didn't commit. Turns out the police and prosecutor never mentioned some fingerprints from the crime scene that didn't match either defendant. They were just relased this past spring after passing lie detector tests and after federal courts MANDATED the police and prosecutors turn over all relevant information.

Oh and by the way, the two guys were originally sentenced to death, and if it hadn't been for the brief reprieve from the death penalty in the 1970's, they would have been executed by now.

2003-12-12 01:22:05 PM
Damn right it's not bad taste - how much better tasting could you get than the last food you're gonna eat in your life?

You think that is "grizzly"? Here is what my twins father did. Steven Woods What does one say to their children about such a brutal subject? "Oh, don't worry sweetheart...your father only brutally murdered two people." Ah, well...I'll figure it out. I was hoping to see what the A-hole picks for his last meal though.

Defender;

Thank you for what you do.

2003-12-12 02:27:59 PM
If that's your concern, MorningBreath, then you'd advocate for getting rid of the Death Penalty entirely. Capital punishment is much more expensive than life in prisonment.
------------------------------------------
the people who make the argument that capital punishment is more expensive than life in prison are usually those who are responsible for the price being so high. leave it to me and I'll drop the price of execution to $100 each.

2003-12-12 02:40:11 PM
Last meal, bad taste, muahahahahahaha.
And I thought food couldn't get any worse than hospital food.
I got nothing.
