what? I think I see what you were trying to do, subby, but damn, that headline made my brain hurt.

The Fark headline machine ate some characters:

Que?

I don't get the headline, either...

Regarding these retards in the Tea Party, who farking cares? Like a rebranding is going to change the fact these people are largely hypocritical, ignorant. mean-spirited assholes and their "movement" is peppered with a good number of bigots, outright racists and xenophobic fascists.

A turd by any other name...is still a turd.

The Tea Party is still an amalgamation of white southern retirees and rednecks, which are often one in the same. Their beliefs are not compatible with the real world and their "oppose everything the black guy and his sociamarxafascist minions want" doesn't work. They support positions that are unpopular and supporting those same positions under a different name does not make those positions suddenly more palatable.

Eight percent approval rating will not mysteriously vanish simply because of a name change.

The retards formerly known as Teabaggers?

WTH, subby?

If they're looking to change a name to make them seem less "Racist and Crazy", the name they should be changing is "Florida", not "Tea Party".

headline doesn't make sense and it should because i'm a very textual guy, though I like it in the ASCII than a UNICODE.

I think of you had gone "name to O(+"  and not added the bit in parenthesis, you would have been on your way to HOTYville

"Now, even more so than the fiscal cliff battle, this year's debt ceiling fight is shaping up as a kind of epic final confrontation - perhaps the Tea Party's last chance to force Obama to do what the what American people emphatically declared in the election that don't want, i.e., solve the country's fiscal problems primarily by dramatically shrinking government, unraveling the safety net, and sparing the rich more sacrifice."

Really...*THAT'S* how you interpreted the election results? And emphatically, at that?

Er...disregard. I am dumb.

The problem with the Tea Party isn't the branding; it's the actual content being branded. Specifically, finding the nominal unifying ideas appealing enough to join is strongly correlated with people having other ideas, which then tend to be incorporated as de facto "unifying principles"; which in turn tend to make the brand look like bastards. Figure out how to modify the content to make disavowal of the toxic bits one of the explicit unifying principles, and you might have a better chance.

Know how I know these guys are still teabaggers? Here's a hint:

media.salon.com
This is a peaceful and constitional demonstration - if you believe your free speech allows = the use of the N word or hateful sign have the courage to give the organizers name & photo.

Seriously, 'baggers, it's time you learn how to spell a certain word.

So, it's a book that's trying to change its cover.

Go for it.

Baring the misspellings, I don't even understand what they're trying to say beyond the "..CONSTITIONAL DEMONSTRATION.." part. "If you believe your free speech allows = ... ??" What does that mean?

I thought about pointing out more, but it's so incoherent I didn't know where to start.

Anyone care to diagram that statement?

It's the equivalent of the "lord up in of this time biatch" meme, in that, when making a banner, presentation is everything. Grammar, too, plays a part, but when you stay INFROMED and STUDY IT OUT, you can make a great sign.

Translation:
THIS is a PEACEFUL & CONSTITUTIONAL DEMOSTRATION - if YOU believe YOUR FREE SPEECH ALLOWS THE USE of the 'N' word or a HATEFUL sign have the COURAGE to GIVE THE ORGANIZER'S NAME & PHOTO

Maybe it's just me but all I see are about 20 old people standing around. Not really what I would call a movement. More like a raucous bingo game.

largedon: Not really what I would call a movement.

Ethel (the woman on the right end of the sign) just had a movement of her own. First one in days. Very satisfying.
