The NHL should do this in their all-star skills competition. It'd be fun!

Also, Datsyuk's shoot-out goal the other day was prettier. And it was for points.

It's like a blown move that worked, but by design. It's cool, but I wonder if anyone can chime in about the KHL skills comp if the goalies are only passively defending on the shootout.

at an all star game. goalie gave no effort and watched it go in. noway this happens in a real game

Yes. They're not trying.

Did Hasek ever make the all star team? Did he ever think of teaming up with a forward and having the forward hurdle him and then score a goal? Hehe. That might piss off a few Minnesota fans.

All-Star game or not, that goalie should be ashamed.

I tell ya, making a goal like that in a shootout situation with the crowd exploding right after it happens... gotta be one hell of a feeling.

Yup, let at least one of these in every beer league game, almost always the result of a broken play. Sometimes the result of mediocre play on my part, but you didn't see me type that.

Wooo hockey!

Anyone's local NHL team doing any special offers for opening night?

The Blue Jackets have tickets 2 for 1 for opening night and if you buy tickets before Monday for any game there arent any ticketmaster fees. I grabbed two nose bleeds for opening night for 26 dollars and two tickets for a game in march with a hotdog, drink, popcorn, icecream and ice skating pass for 25 each. Not too bad.

I think the Oilers offered to sand/salt the walkway out front. Other than that, they have you by the balls.

The real star of that clip is the cameraman who has to skate and focus on what he's recording. That'd be tough with them doing all those whirlygigs and shennanibops all over the place.

He has. IIRC it wasn't even on a penalty shot/shoot out. He was on a breakaway, he didn't score but he HAS tried it in an NHL game. Can't remember if he missed the net, fanned, or if it was just saved.

Guess it's really not the same as his shot was between his wide open legs. Still... he's tried similar stuff. Hell, even that "flip it over the goalie" goal he scored in the KHL all-star game he scored with last (?) year.

Not to mention the "Datsyuk" that has been admired and imitated was originally a live-game breakaway.

I love this, but everyone would have called him an idiot had the goalie not taken the fake.

Just picture the exact same play, but with the goalie stopping the puck.

But it worked, and I love this.

I guess this must be a genrational thing. But when I played goal (late 60's thru late 90's), we were taught to be a lot more aggresive against an attacking player. Just like today, I could not leave the crease until the player touched the puck. But more than likely I would have come as far out as the near faceoff hash mark and would have considered a poke or sweep check when he got into range.

/Get out of my crease
//A real crease is 4 X 8 and only has corners, no curves.

I was watching at the Hilltop in that game. The feeling of sheer schaddenfreude (probably spelt wrong) at doing that to DALLAS was....awesome.
