First Project Quantum Leap needs to get Doctor Beckett home, THEN we can worry about the Destiny.

2013-01-14 02:35:58 PM
Ok, the Death Star one was amusing, but this crap is getting out of hand and we'll all be lucky to live through it. Enough with the stupid petitions just to get a rise out of fellow nerds.

2013-01-14 02:38:31 PM
Stop with the stupid petitions. Most of them aren't funny or clever.

2013-01-14 02:38:34 PM
There's 4 signatures... I'm personally MEH on this.

Could we work on getting John Critchon home? Or seeing how Sunnydale is doing these days... is Buffy residing in Cleveland to deal with that Hellmouth now? What about the Sanctuary program - shouldn't we worry about all those aliens in habitats? Is Skylar still on the loose? Who will save the cheerleader? Who's going to take care of Walter and Billy now?

And, no doubt, her lovely colleague "Candy".

How about getting to work on the holodeck, so I can live out my Karen Gillian/Jenna-Louise Coleman threesome fantasy.

2013-01-14 02:50:58 PM
Stop, please, you are embarrassing us.

2013-01-14 02:58:13 PM
No, let them die out there. That series was terrible.

/If I didn't like Star Trek: Voyager, there's no way I'm going to sit through Stargate: Voyager

Sunnydale is suprisingly kinda intact underground. Turns out that's where the Seed of(all) magic was residing the whole time. Buffy and the gang are currently living in San Francisco and dealing with the zompire epidemic after shutting down all the magic in the world. After all the thousands of slayer that were activated post season 7, it's back to just Buffy and Faith again. Currently Faith is hanging out with Angel in a misguided attempt to resurrect Giles.

Also Spike has a spaceship.

What about a petition to get a rise out of the president?
How big is Obama's package?

Neither does the White House.

There is nothing that forces them to take any action, so these are about as effective and useful as a chain letter or Facebook post.

SpdrJay: I will sign anything that gets SG: Universe back. Loved that show.... :-(

If you took the expectation of 'Stargate' out of SG:U... Then yeah, it was a decent show... But it didn't exactly live up to the rest of the Stargate franchise...

2013-01-14 04:14:28 PM
This is why we can't have nice things.

For years I lobbied to bring back this show...
www.freewebs.com
...but the only thing the network brought back was Courtney Cox.
Sometimes it's better to leave things dead.

I'd rather sign a petition to return Atlantis to the Pegasus galaxy to continue the fight against the Wraith.

There are 3 or 4 other choices I'd pick above Eli to fark right in the ass from that cast.

How about a petition to reunite Destiny's Child for an inauguration performance? They could do "Bills Bills Bills".

No escaping that for me!

Hey, look guys! Another 25 dollarssignature!

/wait, that show's still on

2013-01-14 06:48:41 PM
Here's the thing with SG:U. It started ok, got real shiatty in the middle of the first season to the beginning of the second season. Once they got rid of the idiot Lucien Alliance people (other than the one OK guy) things started to get pretty good. Of course that's when it was cancelled.

I still maintain that if the writers hadn't made half the characters functionally retarded through the first season the show may have done better, and would still be on.

2013-01-14 07:18:29 PM
Hey, even with its issues, SGU was still better than SG1 or Atlantis. Both those shows were campy bullshiat.

/Just wanted a Stargate series that was anything like the original film...

As the OP/petition creator I feel I can verify that.

So the petition was obviously removed. Seems a facetious Star Wars petition is perfectly fine, however Stargate is not supported by the current administration.

"Thanks for your interest in We the People, a new tool on WhiteHouse.gov that allows all Americans to ask the Obama Administration to take action on a range of important issues facing our country.

Yeah, sorry but no. SG-1 had just about the right mix of humor and drama. I'll admit it did get campier as it went on, but SG-1 was a solid series. SG-U was out right stupid in it's initial season and it hurt the show.

Was that tub of lard at the whizkid's front door in the pilot supposed to be O'Neill? If so, RDA's really let himself go.

Eh, I give him a pass because of MacGyver and his early O'Neill. That and he was about 60 when SG:U was out. Besides he was an Airforce General at that point in the show, he was method acting.

What did the Obama administration expect to accomplish with this retarded petition crap? Other than compiling a database of retards' names and emails, what good has it done?

2013-01-14 09:11:23 PM
Here's my idea for a petition: Win The War On Drugs By Developing The Ultimate Weapon. Simply genetically modify a strain of cocaine plants that are highly toxic to humans. And have the toxic part controlled by a dominate gene. And breed fast. Simply put, the plant version of Huntington's. Spread these all throughout cocaine plantations in Colombia to poison the supply. Demand falls because users are seriously injured or killed, cartels go bust or reinvest in marijuana and then...BAM! Just to kick 'em when they're down, legalize and grow marijuana in the US.

Efficiency. I'd guess some people are diverted from emailing, writing, or calling the White House about topics for which there are petitions, thereby reducing the number of individual form responses to be sent.

Or let's twist the conversation around...what are some examples of petitions that the President COULD take action on without it getting undercut by Congress?

/at a loss to think of any
