enforcerpsu: You know, when I was 10 years old (or so) when I read it I never exactly realized that was the ending. It never made sense in my head because reading everything after rama 2 was so long, wordy and confusing...to a 10 year old.

I'm going to go back and wiki them so my 32 year old self understands what happened.

I totally understand. I recall re-reading several of the pages at the end when Nicole was in the memory node and when she was visiting the 4-5 generations of her progeny. It was such a black/white + deux ex machina ending. The Raman intelligence as God was just totally stupid and creating what was really a 'heaven' ending.

Oh, and having Wakefield die in a The Stand-type death was just pathetic (but it did serve to simplify the ending). It was also lame to play humanity off as total losers and sociopaths.

Cythraul: Subby, this sounds like more of a limitation of their budget and game design choices than some form of evil discrimination.

They probably don't want to get all the voice actors from the other worlds together to record new dialogue options for the areas of the game that have been available since launch.

Which is farking hilarious considering this is reportedly the most expensive game in history.

I don't understand what's so difficult about implementing this. If the game already allows "relationships" and "flirtatious dialog" between characters, then it would seem all they would really have to do is remove whatever restrictions they may have added that restricts these options to only opposite character genders.
Then again, I really don't know how they coded these character interactions, and I have seen way too much badly done code in my time. Maybe it's a huge mess.

It's not a 'difficulty' factor, it's a 'need a reason to make people pay for this crap' factor.

And that's about all they have at this point.

There are only flirt options in certain cinversations with certain NPCs. And since every possible interaction with any NPC has its own specific matching voiceovers and often animation as well, they'd have to go back and add new voice acting and animations for a whoooooole bunch of conversations with a whoooooole bunch of people. And in the case of companion characters, they'd have to modify quest lines for that companion to account for the relationship in a manner sufficiently similar to the existing 'love interest'-available companions.

So yes, there really would be an insanely huge amount of work involved - and Bioware said pretty much from the start that adding it to the existing characters/companions was such a huge project that it was likely to only happen with new characters in future content. Personally, I'm OK with this being a feature included just with new NPCs (and dare we hope, maybe a new companion character or two?) in the expansion. Hell, if they actually have full-on same-gender romance storylines in the new content, I might just try them out just to explore the stories.

All in all the author of TFA is wringing his hands trolling for LGBT community outrage (and quoted at least one well-known Bioware forums troll in his article) over a solution anyone who's paid attention has always known was the most likely way it was going to work out.

Let the wookie in?

dualplains: Dingleberry Dickwad: People still play SW:TOR? I foolishly pre-ordered it and while it was fun for a while it got old 6 months after launch and it was dying already.

I still play it. I love the character/story driven aspect to it. I've got NO interest in the MMO part, though.

That's cool. Neither does BioWare.

enforcerpsu: The bottom line is this: for ZERO dollars you can enjoy TOR main story arch on at least 2 characters.

They changed it to two per server, which I think was the original intention anyway. I think the two toon total was a glitch.

This.
I tried so hard to like this game, being a SW fan. The trooper route was fun but I think I barely hit the 30s before I got bored. Same thing with the Jedi route.
