cretinbob: Now I know how I want to release my first album
UNC_Samurai: Wouldn't the point of this be to make the record out of something more durable than vinyl?
loonatic112358: very slowly? With a binder agent?
vudukungfu: OK. Song is coming out.
JohnnyC: I really need to get myself a decent 3D Printer setup. I make 3D models already... would be nice to occasionally print them up and hold them in my hands. :)
loonatic112358: cubify just came out with a new one
OhioKnight: Every time I think about my getting a 3D printer, I think about office copiers and their reliability and maintenance...then I shudder and resolve to pay someone to make physical models for me
JohnnyC: One of the hardware stores is offering 3D printing these days... haven't checked into their pricing. Also, they're using the paper/layer technique, which I'm not that keen on. I'd prefer polymer printing.
Egoy3k: So they used a digital printer to print the vinyl record. So essentially they have an easily damaged CD?
StoPPeRmobile: Egoy3k: So they used a digital printer to print the vinyl record. So essentially they have an easily damaged CD?Have you ever checked out 10 year old CDs?
Riche: I was about to post how 3D printing would never be a practical way to create records.......Then I realized that records themselves are laughably impractical and have been for over 20 years now.
padraig: What exactly was the alternative in 1993 ?

StrikitRich: Could 3D printed records lead to a new form piracy in the future? Ghassaei thinks not. She says, "It would be a huge amount of effort to go to. I can't imagine this is what the technology would be used for."Seems like a lot of expense to go to to get that Vanilla Ice album you could have almost instantly off of iTunes.
SmokeyS: is it digital or analogue?
Cheron: I was listening to 3D printed vinyl before it was cool
