Well computers are faster and connections are better now, so now they are funny instead of being annoying resource suckers.

Good question, actually.  Isn't the trademark still owned by Compuserve?

This is why I don't watch award shows. The funny stuff just comes out the next day on the internets

Glenn Close looks like that optical illusion where it's either an old lady or a young girl?

logoblink.com

Look at this and then at the .gif again. Tell me I'm wrong.

Don't know about trademarks but the patents were owned by IBM and Unisys. However, by October 2006, they had all expired.

Hmm, the "young girl" I guess is what I am seeing - looking away and to the right, so you just about see her nose and eyelash in profile, and her ear and her left jaw line, wearing a choker, with a feather or something poking up from front of her hair, and some weird shapeless hat covering most of her hair. I am guessing the old lady is based more on the "hat" area being her face, but I still can't see it.

The young girl's cheek is the old woman's nose.

I watched some of that show and everyone seemed pretty wasted. WTF Tarantino, glad someone took you down for a few minutes before you spewed out more vodka.

Jodie Foster, you said more words about how you are so private and then talked about your life for about 10 rambling minutes, I'm sure there was some vodka involved.

I even thought Daniel Day-Lewis might be sober enough to pull off a decent speech but then he started weeping about Spielberg while the warning orchestra swelled, which as usual, made Daniel Day-Lewis awesome anyway.

I expect no one in Hollywood had to wake up early today.

Oh and Ben Affleck, I think you needed a few shots, or that was a bad time to hit the coke line.

Robert Downey Jr seemed pretty together, ironically.

I didn't see the old lady at all whatsoever until I read your comment

It's because nobody has bothered with good MNG support in browsers. GIF is pretty crappy in that it still demands a palette.

Frankly I'm surprised at the resurgence of the greatest American art form. I thought it would be relegated to forum avatars forever. Adobe even killed Imageready. I don't know where the hell this came from, but I love it.

MNG and APNG may as well go jerk off with OGG, WebM and SVG.
