Bite your tongue, subby. Nothing short of grain/hop extinction should make you give up beer, and even that should be just a temporary road block.

Aw, too far away to get. :( Sounds like it might be yummy though. Or horrible. I'll read the reviews with interest.

/Drove to Madison to adopt a rescue dog; don't think I could bring myself to drive that far for this.

I'd give it a try.

Then again, I'll give pretty much any alcohol a try.

Good for you Subby, I am currently enjoying this.

Five percent? That's not alcoholic. I piss a higher proof than that.

If it's not at least 80 proof it's not alcoholic.

It could be good Subby but it'll be too sweet to drink often. Have one or two sure but then it's back to beer.

Any farkers want to ship me a 4 pack? Is that even legal? Must try.

Dammit. My Google-fu must be weak today.
i recall a strip from the great Berkely Breathed's Bloom County that was defining what different cartoon 'props' meant. Like the little bubbles around Steve Dallas's head indicated he was inebriated and were called boozles, but around Milo's head, they were still called boozles, but in this case root boozles.

/Anyone else remember that?
//i think it would be perfect for the topic at hand.

The bottle says it's a "malt beverage." Doesn't that mean it's basically beer with root flavoring?

OMG i'd like to do socially unacceptable things with you, you sexy thang. that's the best urine comment I've ever. your face should be on a coin.

candy is dandy but liquor is quicker.

for those able to buy tis in their area: PathMark supermarket no-frills Birch Beer soda mixed 50/50 with Heineken Dark is like a liquid candy bar of sex, if you don't mind horrible hangover season. yum. yum yum. but don't be creepy and feed it to unsuspecting frat girls, date rapers.

A+W or better root beer mixed with generous amounts of bourbon is my go to drink with barbecue. It sounded horrible to me until I tried it and there is something about that flavour melding in your mouth with good homemade barbecue from my smoker. If heaven has a taste this very well might be it.

flavored with Bourbon or Bourbon flavoring? the difference is important.

I might try it - I'm always up to try something new.

This stuff is pretty damn good. The Class 6 had about 8 bottles of it on the clearance shelf for $5.00 each. I bought them all, figuring for five bucks it was worth a try and might make a root beer float more interesting. Turns out it is delicious. Now I can't find it in any of the liquor stores I visit.

Note: this is this "artificially flavored malt beverage" stuff. Alas.

There are several hoity-toity rootbeer flavored liqueurs now, in addition to the crap from Hiram Walker etc.

This one is pretty awesome: http://www.caskstore.com/root-liqueur.html

Whiskey and root beer is delicious. And dangerous. Also, while it's a bit sacrilegious, manhattan and cream soda is a fantastic beverage. Whiskey, cherry, bitters, vermouth, then top it with a good cream soda. It's perfect for cool evenings in late summer.

anyone in michigan should try out Clurichaun Canoe Clu by Bardc Wells Meadery. It is a honey birch wine with hops and tastes like a sweet rootbeer. 9% too. good stuff

Amazon has a listing for it. It costs a lot more than $5, though.

One of the best things I've ever gotten from a chain restaurant bar was a house-crafted root beer with a hefty amount of whisky, butterscotch schnapps, and irish cream. It was a taste so thick I felt like I was eating my drink, but wow was it good.

Unfortunately root beer flavored malt beverage just doesn't sound like it would halfway live up to that.

2013-01-13 03:35:20 PM
I wonder if this would tear up my throat like all the other "hard" candy drinks. Normally just one of those type of drinks will make me feel like I have strep for weeks afterwards.

Sounds like hangover fuel.

I popped into a place called Jacob's Pickles in the Upper West Side in Manhattan when I was there in July for a two week workshop. Ordered a Rum & Root Beer.

1...2...3...floor.

Knocked me on my ass.

Rum, too

I dunno, I'd give it a shot, but I'm not so sure how rootbeer would taste with bourbon, at least it doesn't sound good to me.

I do drink alot of alcoholic ginger beer though. It's my go-to drink when it's blazing farking hot outside. That and a good hefewiesen.

This is relevant to my interests.

Too bad the product being adverticled here is just malt liquor with artificial flavoring.

Art In The Age's ROOT liquor is some good stuff. I'll take a shot of that in a highball glass, topped off with soda water, please.

How about spruce beer with Geneva gin? The latter becomes almost drinkable when that piney goodness obliterates its taste.

Blackneto: flavored with Bourbon or Bourbon flavoring? the difference is important.

I doubt it would be legal to sell real bourbon+root beer and advertise it as such, with all of the weird bourbon labeling rules.

So drink an entire case of 5% and then tell the police when you're pulled over it was non-alcoholic.

And dark rum, with bitters and nutmeg/cloves chucked in.
